We are a pharmaceutical company based in Oakville and currently have an opening for an HR Generalist and business partner role.  This position is a blend of business partnering, operational and administration functions.  As a small organization, this role has the unique opportunity to provide support to the entire Canadian team and all functional areas within the business.  This position reports to the HR Director.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the overall HR strategy by assisting with, identifying and building HR programs & processes
  • Manage end to end recruitment for various departments which may include developing job postings with hiring managers, screening applicants, participating in interviews and  preparing of offer packages
  • Lead and coordinate recruitment activities for university coop programs
  • Manage induction activities for new employees
  • Liaise with benefit provider to support entire employee life cycle
  • Review market compensation for annual salary reviews to ensure compensation is competitive
  • Liaise with payroll and benefits provider to facilitate short & long-term disability claims as well as maternity leaves
  • Manage Health & Safety initiatives
  • Ensure all HR policies are aligned with our global policies and defined within Canadian legislation
  • Partner with managers to ensure all job descriptions are in place & current
  • Conduct exit interviews & summarize key findings to management
  • Maintain HRIS and other HR related systems
  • Identify, prepare, analyze and publish findings for various HR monthly and quarterly reports
  • Work with the Director HR on the development of new HR initiatives and training programs to support the growth and success of the business operations at Aspen Canada.

Preference will be given to candidates who closely match the following qualifications:

  • University Degree in Business, Human Resources, or social sciences.  Or a university degree with a post graduate certificate in Human Resources.
  • CHRL or CHRP (completed or currently in progress)
  • 5-7 years’ experience as an HR Generalist &/or Business Partner, preferably within the  pharmaceutical industry
  • Hands-on experience with a broad range of HR functions including compensation, benefits, leaves management, recruitment, performance management, talent management, L&D, policy development, Diversity & Inclusion
  • Bilingual in French an asset
  • Proven expertise and solid understanding of Canadian employment legislation &/or resourceful to research this information & make connections to current policies and daily decisions within the role
  • Experience with various HRIS & Performance Management systems
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including MS Visio
  • Solid understanding of compensation and benefit programs
  • Strong self-awareness to interact & counsel employees with sensitivity and a balanced viewpoint
  • Ability to work well through ambiguity as well as simplifying complex processes
  • Highly customer focused – very approachable
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong and collaborative working relationships with internal and external business partners
  • Highly discreet maintaining a professional level of confidentiality
  • Highly process-oriented 
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
