A Day in the Life…

The Talent Acquisition Consultant is responsible for the consultation, coordination and delivery of end-to-end talent acquisition providing advice, guidance, training and related expertise. The Consultant facilitates fair and equitable hiring practices throughout the recruitment process involving several employee groups in both union and non-union staff and faculty recruitments. This fast-paced position will work throughout the Brock community to engage hiring managers, leaders and candidates.

As the Talent Acquisition Consultant you will:

  • Coordinate all aspects of the talent acquisition process/life cycle from end to end;
  • Collaborate, consult and support hiring managers, selection committees, external agencies, and senior leadership on full-cycle recruitment;
  • Ensure legislative, collective agreement, policy and best practice compliance within the talent acquisition process;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new strategic recruitment initiatives for the university;
  • Represent Brock University as a preferred place to work through recruitment activities and social media;
  • Respond to inquiries and provide feedback and guidance to employees, applicants and candidates regarding recruitment process and career;
  • Test, troubleshoot, audit and suggest improvements and enhancements to the HR Workday system as it relates to recruitment, to continuously improve end-user experience and overall process efficiency;
  • Coordinate and facilitate New Employee Orientation on a bi-monthly basis;
  • Develop and facilitate the delivery of training programs for hiring managers and selection committees;
  • Monitor composition of Temporary Employee Service (TES) pool; lead recruitment process for TES hires; onboard and train all new TES members; and organize, assign and track ongoing assignments of TES.

What you Need to Succeed…

  • A university degree in a related field (e.g. Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, Social Sciences), preferably with a concentration in Human Resources Management;
  • 3- 5 years of demonstrated applicable experience, including employment branding and trends, with a focus on leading full cycle talent acquisition, preferably in an environment with multiple union and non-union employee groups;
  • Overall knowledge of human resources function, practices and procedures, particularly as related to talent acquisition;
  • Knowledge of relevant acts, regulations, collective agreements, quality service and customer service standards, staffing standards, guidelines and directives to effectively consult with managers regarding recruitment related implications;
  • Exceptional assessment skills and demonstrated judgment combined with knowledge of theories and principles in applicant selection and interviewing
  • Strong communication skills, to establish and maintain effective relationships with managers, staff, faculty and candidates;
  • Collaborative, with excellent interpersonal and consultative skills;
  • Knowledge and expertise using social media for talent acquisition purposes;
  • Knowledge and proficiency with information technology and HRIS systems, preferably Workday and Office365;
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills;
  • Creative problem solving combined with forward thinking towards next steps and impact.

Preferred or Asset Skills:

  • CHRP or CHRL designation;
  • Demonstrated experience in a public sector or educational environment.
