Regional Human Resources Coordinator

SERVICE AREA:                           Administration – Human Resources

LOCATION:                                  Kerry’s Place Central Region - Brampton

POSITION STATUS:                    Temporary Full Time with Benefits (Contract to August 2021; two weeks written notice prior to contract end date)

HOURS OF WORK:                     37.5 hours per week

HOURLY PAY RATE:                   $22.77 – $28.45 per hour

CLOSING DATE:                          4:30pm, November 18, 2019

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  As part of the Kerry’s Place Autism Services Human Resources team, the regional coordinator will provide support to the Regional Human Resources Team by administrating matters relating to recruitment and selection, occupational health and safety, labour relations, training and development, policies and procedures and employee benefits for client groups to improve the overall effectiveness of the agency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 General

  • Through actions, supports the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan of Kerry’s Place.
  • Reviews and adheres to all Policies and Procedures, including: Finance & Administration; Services & Supports; Human Resources; Health & Safety, and all other.
  • Adheres to employee responsibilities for Health & Safety as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Resource Management

  • Work with the Regional Human Resources team to create a welcoming and supportive environment for employees of Kerry’s Place, people supported and members of the public.
  • In conjunction with Regional Administrative Assistants, assist in the administration of the various employee benefit programs including life and health insurance as well as pension and RRSP plans.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all benefit programs and communicate this to employees within the region upon request.
  • Recommend continuous improvements to the benefits programs and process to better serve employees.
  • Assist in the coordination of investigations, grievances, mediation, arbitration and collective bargaining (scheduling, data collection, discovery files, etc)
  • Support HR and Operational Managers in the recruitment and selection process including, but not limited to, the posting of positions, candidate screening, interviewing, reference checks and preparing offer letters
  • Coordinate and assist with New hire paperwork and the New Hire Orientation/Onboarding process
  • Coordinate the activities and provide support for the Joint Health and Safety Committee and other health and safety initiatives.
  • Responsible for coordinating and tracking all administrative documentation related to the regional Joint Health and Safety Committee sites.
  • Assist with management of regional workplace injury claims and leaves of absences.
  • Complete monthly HR metrics related to recruitment and retention and employee file compliance.
  • Assist with various Human Resources Projects
  • Provide back-up for other Human Resource functions.
  • Ensure appropriate confidentiality is maintained for individuals and employees.
  • Be familiar with legislation and regulations related to Human Resources and assist employees to locate relevant documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Quality Assurance Measures

  • Regularly deliver professional communications to internal and external contacts.
  • Support the Management team to ensure professional and thorough records are maintained and up to date for all persons being served.
  • Provide creative solutions for continual process improvements and ensure that procedures are documented.
  • Apply a continuous improvement approach to activities, models and reports to provide insights into Kerry’s Place operations, opportunities and challenges.

 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • CHRP designation or equivalent is preferred.
  • Completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) and Human Resources experience complimented by training and/or education in Human Resources.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management and planning skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of computers and software such as: Microsoft Office, Email and the Internet.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, innovation and creativity.
  • Excellent problem solving and leadership skills.
  • Self motivated and self directed.
