As the Business Partner, you will support management of a variety of Business groups located in Oakville, Ontario. The Business Partner is part of the Canadian Human Resources organization but works closely in a network of Human Resource Business Partners internationally. The Business Partner supports the business groups to assist with realization of their strategic goals by implementation, application and execution of Human Resource policies, tools and processes and with the management and implementation of organizational change. Additionally, the Business Partner provides management with advice on the strategic direction of the client group and implement organizational and cultural change processes, which leads to improvement of client group performance and a balance between available competencies and strategic goals of the organization.

Responsible for translating the Human Resource strategy and executing the strategy for assigned local client groups. The role is responsible for implementing, communicating and executing local Human Resource policies tools and processes, which are aligned with global Human Resource guidelines, in order to ensure a clear and consistent Human Resource policy and system.

Support management with workforce planning and capacity needs in order to support the client group with internal and external changes. Implement local Human Resource development policies and align with strategic developments of the client group.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         This role involves, but is not limited to, strategic planning, organizational development projects, succession planning, career pathing, coaching and counseling and complex employee relations/investigations.

·         Acts as first contact for business leaders for organizational development projects which include strategic business decisions including staffing, reorganizations and realignments with industry or clients and/or other parts of the organization. Is responsible for encouraging management to improve efficiencies in departmental workflows.

·         Proactively helps develop and encourage the maintenance of business’s succession plans. Works with the business on development and learning plans for the high performers of the organization.

·         Coaches and counsels managers and their teams to enhance the relationship between member and manager and to increase manager self-reliance in basic Human Resource policies and practices.

·         Provides guidance on complex employee relations issues, including compliance/legal issues. Ensures all issues are resolved in an efficient, legal and ethical manner.

·         Facilitates working sessions and interventions with managers and/or team members to ensure proper working relationships.

·         Provides management, oversight and monitoring to the Global Performance Management process. Embed values and leadership priorities in performance management process.

·         Supports roll out of learning initiatives 

·         Partners with department managers when developing new job descriptions. Liaisons with Compensation to ensure the analysis, grading and creation of each new job takes place.

Your Profile:

  • 7-10 years experience of extensive Human Resources experience in all disciplines, including prior experience as an HR Business Partner. Previous experience supporting large, complex teams.
  • Experience working in a complex matrixed organization; preferably in a global company. International experience a plus.
  • 5-7 years of hands on experience in succession planning and career pathing is highly desired.
  • 5-7 years of experience handling detailed employee relation issues is highly desired.
  • Must have the proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, the ability to lead facilitated sessions and make formal presentations is required.
  • Must be able to inspire, influence and motivate others.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Must have the proven ability to develop, present and implement strategic plans.
  • Thorough knowledge of current employment law is required.
  • Must have proven experience working with all levels of management and to be comfortable with conflict and negotiation as well as interactions with senior management.
  • Must have hands on experience successfully dealing with diversity issues.

Education and Other Credentials:

Bachelor’s Degree in Organization Development, Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, Industrial Psychology, or other relevant field or equivalent work experience is required.
