Human Resources Manager

The Charton Hobbs Group of companies comprising of Charton Hobbs, Authentic Wine & Spirits Merchants, and Escalade Wines & Spirits, is Canada’s largest privately owned importer of Wine and Spirits.  Founded in 1925 the company is fast approaching its centennial and is growing rapidly with 265 employees across Canada.  Excellent bilingual French language skills are required.  This position is based in the Mississauga office and will be responsible for HR for Eastern and Atlantic Canada – reporting to the Senior VP HR.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Facilitating all employment and recruitment activities including media sourcing, interviewing, selection, employment contracts, onboarding and administration of hires, resolution of issues, discipline, and termination;
  • You will be the go-to person for all benefit related questions (Great West Life) and coordinating benefits administration;
  • This position requires HRIS experience as this position will extensively use INFOHR, our HR information system, processing new employees, work history, controlling vacation requests, and is our data bank of all our employees’ position, payroll history, education, vacation and performance records;
  • Creating and updating company policy directives, updating forms and procedures, developing employee reports and maintaining the company’s HR SharePoint site;
  • Special projects as required, some travel within Canada will be required;

Qualifications:

  • You will have a diploma or degree in HR or an otherwise relevant field;
  • You have at least five to 10 years' experience preferably in a non-union, family run environment – with more than 200 employees;
  • Ideally, you have experience in a wine and spirits agency or relevant CPG sales/distribution/marketing environment;
  • You must be very technically strong and able to take advantage of the capabilities within Office 365, and have a working knowledge of payroll systems;
  • You have a strong foundation of knowledge of multiple provincial employment standards and have experienced all aspects of recruiting, hiring and terminations;
