TransLink is Metro Vancouver’s transportation authority. It finances, plans and builds the transit system and through TransLink’s operating companies, operates an integrated regional transportation system that moves up to 500,000 people every single day (1.3 million daily boardings) — connecting 23 local cities spanning 1,800 square kilometers by bus, automated rapid transit (SkyTrain), commuter rail (West Coast Express), passenger ferry (SeaBus), on-demand para-transit service (HandyDART), pedestrian and cycling paths, major roads, and five bridges. In 2019 it was awarded the American Public Transit Association’s (APTA) Transit System of the Year Award for its 2016 to 2018 systemwide achievements and it’s currently embarking on a $9 billion plan to improve transit and transportation in the region.

A pivotal role exists for an experienced total rewards and payroll services practitioner within one of BC’s premier employers. Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, and as a member of Translink’s senior HR leadership team, the Director, Total Rewards and Payroll Services will proactively support compensation and total rewards programs at all levels of Translink and provide input into the development of over-arching HR strategies while sharing accountability for divisional achievements. S/he will provide senior leadership to the development, implementation, and management of total rewards programing, including payroll services, and will oversee a team of dedicated professionals. The Director will share accountability for supporting and promoting the effective delivery of HR services through a shared services model supported by HR Business Partners, HR Experts, service level agreements, and KPIs. The Director provides guidance and mentorship to the department, creating clear objectives and accountabilities, and building capacity through training and career development opportunities.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic and progressive total rewards professional with a deep desire to use analytical skills to support theory, policies, and best practices as they relate to total rewards. With a strong understanding of interpretation and application in real-world settings, the Director, Total Rewards and Payroll Services has an ability to influence and affect meaningful change alongside a well-developed adaptive style working with others. Bringing a depth of experience working at a management or senior level position aligning compensation best practices, the Director will value team work, positive relationships, and working collaboratively with a diverse group of professionals in a large and complex, unionized environment. As well, they will demonstrate the ability to deliver strategies and tactics via a shared services model supported by HR Business Partners, service level agreements, and KPIs.
