We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Payroll at our Canadian Head Office in Mississauga, Ontario!

Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all Brink’s payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable company policies, legislation and collective agreements. This position will be responsible for managing the Payroll Administration team.

As the Manager, Payroll – you will have the opportunity to:

  • Be wholly responsible for the processing of the salaried payroll for Canada, while overseeing the Payroll Administration’s team of all hourly payrolls
  • Complete all month end processes for Canadian payroll, including all accounting processes and tax remittances
  • Be the first point of contact for Kronos programming updates and system upgrades, working directly with the HRIS Specialist to address any and all time and attendance issues. The incumbent will be responsible for all programming in Kronos
  • Investigate escalated issues from all payrolls
  • Oversee the manual cheque process
  • Liaise with our HRIS team in regards to programing changes in Workday and ensuring that all payroll interfaces are functioning properly
  • Oversee year end tasks, including auditing of all year-end activities
  • Analyze, compile and report payroll statistics to various government agencies
  • Calculate, report and remit assessable premiums to the appropriate provincial Workers’ Compensation boards
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned

What we're looking for:

  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) with a relevant post-secondary education, CHRL an asset
  • Someone with 5 – 10 years experience working in a multi-provincial, unionized, payroll environment, including payroll accounting functions
  • At least 2 years of experience managing a payroll team of at least 3 direct reports
  • Demonstrated ability to program in Kronos (i.e. new department set-up, work rule creation and adjustment, labour transfers, labour levels, organizational maps)
  • Working knowledge of Workday Payroll
  • Previous experience leading month- and year-end payroll processes
  • Strong sense of urgency, ability to function in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Experience working and presenting information to all levels of an organization and vendor management experience
  • A driven payroll professional with a track record of driving efficiencies and providing exceptional customer service
  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered a strong asset
  • Exceptional organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and succeed in a fast paced, deadline oriented, environment
  • Ability to maintain strong interpersonal relationships
  • Excellent communication skills, experience compiling payroll data and presenting it to senior accounting and HR professionals
  • Bilingualism in English and French an asset
