SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Sr Manager, Human Resources, as the Employee Relations Partner, you will be an advocate for both the Company and the employees of the Company. As an Employee Relations Partner, and focal for HR services, you will support overall business goals and functional HR goals. The ERP will support a particular business through the development and execution of positive employee relations strategies across the Oakville site. By closely partnering with both the HR Business Partner, ERPs are experts in critical employee relations processes and techniques. The best ERPs are courageous, creative problem-solvers with strong emotional intelligence. They’re comfortable operating in ambiguous situations and are known for their masterful collaboration skills.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leverage insights and best practices to develop and execute positive employee relations strategies at the site level
  • Advise and assist managers in performance management process (i.e. Performance Success Plans)
  • Coach and mentor front line leaders
  • Conduct investigations and make disciplinary recommendations, when needed
  • Provide counsel and direction to clients on HR issues, including pro-active identification and resolution of people-related issues including conflict resolution, policy and procedure interpretations, and legal compliance counseling to support all shifts.
  • Provide support to the Sr Manager, Human Resources as required
  • Provide support to designated client group(s) for employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, policy and procedure interpretation, and counseling on all shifts.
  • Support organizational development initiatives, performance management, training and development, employee engagement, etc.
  • In conjunction with the local Talent Acquisition Specialist, support talent management
  • Interpret and advise on local process guidelines (i.e. rehire eligibility, privacy practices, accommodations, termination guidelines, etc.)
  • Act as a Collins Mission and Operating Principles change champion in the creation of a workplace culture that embodies strong customer service focus, employee empowerment, accountability, ACE, and ongoing learning.
  • Plan, develop and evaluate HR policies and guidelines in support of Company goals and objectives.
  • Lead and participate in site, divisional and enterprise-wide HR initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required
  • CHRP or CHRL certification preferred
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated strong employee relations experience is required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Employment Standards Act and related legislation is required
  • Previous HR Systems experience preferred (Workday)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Labour Relations Act and Human Rights legislation is required
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRMS applications is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong team and customer service orientation

  • Successful candidate must have the ability to meet off-shift requirements
  • Successful candidate must meet all requirements under the Controlled Goods Directorate (CGD)
