Human Resources Specialist (Temporary Contract Opportunity)

Tandia Financial Credit Union (Tandia) is seeking a talented and experienced human resources professional to join our Human Resources team to fulfill a temporary contract.

This position is located at our Hamilton Corporate office, located at 75 James Street South, Hamilton. 

Please note: this position is currently located in Hamilton, but we will be moving when our Corporate Office relocates to 3455 North Service Road in Burlington over the next few months.

Your Work at a Glance

As the Human Resources Specialist, you will utilize your knowledge of best in class recruitment practices to coordinate all recruiting-related activities.  This includes preparing and posting career opportunities, sourcing and pre-screening applicants and participating with hiring managers in interviews.

Your knowledge of employment related legislation and human resources best practices will guide you as you coordinate the credit union’s recruitment processes including coordination of testing, reference checks, bonding applications and preparation of job offers.

Your enthusiasm for the credit union sector and our vision will be evident when you facilitate our new staff orientation programs and correspond with applicants.   

You are a solid team player, who values the importance of a client focused service delivery model, ensuring that vacancies are filled in a timely and efficient manner, as per credit union policy and employment related legislation.

You will be a key contributor to a variety of initiatives within the human resources department and be responsible for processing all staff movement, including data entry and maintenance of confidential human resources records (HRIS and hardcopy).

You will provide support for data based decision making and be responsible for the compilation of human resources metrics.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a minimum of 3 years of experience recruiting, with knowledge of employment related legislation and human resources best practices.  
  • Is detail oriented, with strong planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Is able to work well independently, while enjoying the opportunities working in a team-based environment provides.
  • Has strong technical and software skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), human resources information systems, social media (for recruitment purposes) and applicant tracking systems.
  • Is positive, confident and supportive with engaging interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to keep skills/knowledge current.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in business, human resources or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in financial services is an asset.
  • Prior experience working in an unionized environment is an asset.
