With a budget of over $150 million and more than 1000 sworn and civilian members, The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) requires an experienced Human Resources professional to fill the role of Job Analyst (temporary).
The WRPS delivers exceptional police services to more than 575,000 residents. The Waterloo Region is a vital and prosperous community in southern Ontario that offers the unique combination of a growing urban centre comprised of three municipalities, Cambridge, Kitchener, and Waterloo surrounded by four rural communities, North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich. As a member of the Human Resources Branch, the Job Analyst will coordinate the job evaluation process in accordance with the Job Evaluation Terms of Reference, examine jobs and write job descriptions, and complete research and special projects.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of job analysis, compensation management, organizational effectiveness, labour relations and Human Resources policies, normally acquired through the attainment of a Community College diploma in Human Resources, or equivalent job experience and working towards a Certified Human Resources Leader (C.H.R.L.) designation through the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario Previous recent work experience in a Human Resources office, including job analysis, job description writing and job evaluation process administration required Familiarity with a unionized work environment is an asset
- Ability to reference and access relevant sections and procedures of the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Pay Equity Act, the Employment Standards Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Act to ensure job description content accuracy
- Knowledge of standardized office procedures and processes, filing and file management, proficient keyboarding skills, data entry and document organization normally acquired through two years’ previous general office experience
- Skill in the operation of a personal computer and knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to interview and advise employees and management about the job evaluation process Proven organizational, multi-tasking, time management and planning skills
- A valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License with no more than six (6) demerit points required to travel within and outside of the Region
- Ability to meet police security clearance requirements and to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to participate as an effective team member and to support and project values compatible with the organization
