Spicers Canada ULC (“Spicers”) is a leading distributor of fine paper, graphic arts, sign and display, and industrial packaging equipment and consumables headquartered in Vaughan, Ontario. It operates from 27 distribution centres strategically located across Canada.

We are currently looking for Full-Time Human Resources Generalist located in Vaughan, Ontario reporting to the Human Resources Director.

Your Challenge:

  • Assist with recruitment needs and provide full-cycle recruitment support for all warehouse roles;
  • Coordination of the new employee onboarding and orientation process;
  • Maintain the Spicers Employee Handbook and all policies and procedures;
  • Oversee the maintenance of the HRIS system, Dayforce HCM;
  • Management of the annual Spicers corporate competition compliance program;
  • Adding/ removing employees from Pension and Benefits program;
  • Create and deliver training presentations (or solutions) for employees and management;
  • Provide support and coaching to mid-level people leaders with respect to employee development, performance management, progressive discipline, and all employee relations matters;
  • Proactively monitor changes in key legislation impacting Spicers and ensure legislative compliance at all times;
  • Draft various human resources letters (employment agreements, medical letters, disciplinary letters, etc.);
  • Coordinate the exit process including conducting exit interviews
  • Coordination of employee wellness programs;
  • On-boarding of new employees including creating new employee kits, setting up mandatory training, up-dating the HRIS system, providing orientation and ensuring all required forms and background checks are completed;
  • Prepare the HR metrics for the quarterly management meeting and monthly headcount report;
  • Maintain the organizational charts for all the divisions in Canada;
  • Maintain and update the HRIS system, Dayforce;
  • Prepare employment verification letters;
  • Send out internal communications;
  • Actively participate on the Joint Health and Safety Committee;
  • Administration of the continuing education process and employee referral program;
  • Coordination of all employee engagement programs including the long service recognition program, 1st anniversary recognition program, and Take Our Kids to Work;
  • Distribute paystubs to employees bi-weekly;
  • Code all human resources invoices and perform weekly filing; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary school diploma or certificate or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Actively pursuing the CHRP designation an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and Canadian employment legislation;
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ relevant experience;
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff and management;
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheets and databases, with a track record of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Proficient in using MS Office and knowledge of HR databases;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; and
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle deadline pressure well.
