JOB DESCRIPTION

Ecopia.AI is an industry-leading artificial intelligence company specializing in extracting insight from geospatial big data. Millions of geospatial images are captured every day by satellites, airplanes, and other vehicles. Ecopia converts this flood of imagery into high definition (HD) maps, empowering a wide range of decision-makers with better information about the physical world. 

We are seeking a strategic-thinking, operational HR leader to support the growth of our dynamic team. Reporting to the CEO, the ideal candidate will have hands-on experience and a proven track record in a broad range of HR functions. Ecopia is located in the beautiful MaRS Discovery District building at 101 College Street in Toronto. Come join us in our mission to digitize the world.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
  • Create a competitive employment brand for Ecopia that attracts and retains the best talent
  • Build a pipeline of talent through active research, outreach, and networking
  • Effectively manage all aspects of the recruitment cycle with minimal direction
  • Manage ongoing HR operational functions including: 
    • Employee relations
    • Employee documentation & record-keeping
    • Benefits management
    • Employment policies
    • Learning and organizational development
  • Stay abreast of relevant HR news, trends, and laws in Canada

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
  • A Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) or Executive (CHRE) designation is highly preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive HR / People leadership experience preferably in the startup, tech industry, or another fast-paced field
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary recruitment across both technical and business backgrounds
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian employment law, practices, and models
  • Proven experience working in a face-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional and detail-oriented, with a focus on results
