THE OPPORTUNITY

The Business Partner, People and Culture will be a hands-on seasoned generalist who is curious, with a learning mindset, strong team focus, values driven and wiliness to take on new challenges to join our People and Culture team based in Toronto. We are looking for a person who has strong initiative and a passion for delivering best in class HR practices.

The Business Partner, People and Culture, will report into the Head of People and Culture, Canada and work closely with other HRBP’s and the P&C Center of Expertise (COE) teams to support client groups in the Toronto office.  Works directly with in leadership and their teams in their client group in order to execute HR Programs, agenda or initiatives in the departments and EleV. program.  


You will be supporting the P&C leader in the Toronto office and be a trusted advisor - identify issues, suggest solutions for consideration and liaise with larger P&C specialists. Provide best practice and thinking around creative solutions whilst implementing HR Policies and procedures. This position requires an HR generalist background. This person will represent the Foundation and will have to be results oriented, agile, creative and a team player.

WAYS YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE

  • Responsible for building relationships amongst staff to ensure strong employee relations. Provide guidance and professional advice to various levels of the Foundation.
  • Manage and provide proactive support to employees regarding HR policies & procedures interpretation, training, performance counselling, exit interviews, employee related matters and disciplinary action ensuring the Head of People and Culture Canada is informed and updated on a timely basis.
  • Advises, coaches and provides first line support to line managers in the implementation of staff initiatives (performance reviews, culture and compensation and wellness initiatives). 
  • Partners with the Centres of Expertise areas of total rewards, talent acquision, talent management, culture and engagement, change and organizational design to implement programs to the Toronto staff. Partners with the larger HR team to develops and ensures appropriate HR communication strategies and process documentation.
  • Responsible for the management of full cycle recruitment of the Toronto office including creating job descriptions, competencies, recruitment strategy, postings, interviews, job offers. 
  • Provides advice on the design of HR policies, processes and systems and work with other P&C team members to identify opportunities for further enhancement for future initiatives. Ensure needs of employees are considered in new program development.  
  • Responsible for ensuring all employment legislation and standards are followed in Canada. Keeps current with the employment legislation and ensures compliance. A participative member of the Health and Safety committee for the Toronto office.
  • Responsible for administering benefits enrolment, new hire paperwork completion, exit interview process, employment verification and visa letters. 
  • Partners with payroll to ensure all employee information, payroll legislation, processes and

        guidelines are correct.  

 

  • Analyzes trends and statistics of P&C data and provide recommendations for in country when required.
  • Maintains an effective level of business literacy to understand current and future needs of the Foundation in order to provide proactive support and services aligned to those needs.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Minimum of 8-10 years in leading HR positions as a Generalist and or HR Business Partner with an emphasis on employee relations, HR systems, HR program development, full cycle recruiting, employment legislation.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or College Diploma in Human Resources Management.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is required.
  • Strong team player with an orientation to take initiative. Flexible, adaptive and ability to execute a range of job duties and changing priorities. Ability to successfully handle multiple complex priorities concurrently.
  • Ability to work in an environment where unanticipated changes in demands often necessitate a change in priorities.
  • Exceptional commitment to customer service; highly proactive, with a strong sense of urgency and ability to complete projects/task. Strong sense of the business partnering model.
  • Possesses a high degree of forethought in approach to making decisions and driving results on behalf of the Foundation. Strong problem-solving skills combined with a track record of pivoting in response to opportunities and challenges. Results driven and motivated by a snes of performance excellence and urgency.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality, professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Strong judgement, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate information to a variety of constituents across cultures.
