The HR Business Partner is a champion at building relationships and will partner with Tepperman’s leaders and their teams to implement people strategies that are aligned with business plans. This is a dynamic role that plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the organizations human resources by providing expertise in all functional areas of human resources.

Your Responsibilities

This position will work collaboratively as part of the HR Team to carry out HR projects and initiatives that will support our goals of a high performing and engaged work environment. Some of your responsibilities are:

  • Supporting the overall recruitment strategy to identify and understand workforce needs and participate in full cycle recruitment
  • Partnering with management to develop programs that support employee engagement and retention
  • Collaborating and supporting management in the areas of labour/employee relations, and ensuring compliance with legislation and applicable Collective Agreements
  • Mediating and resolving employee/labour relations disputes as necessary, conducting investigations and leading positive employee relations interventions, as required
  • Coordinating Health and Safety programs in all locations, maintaining Health & Safety records and communication boards, providing support to the Joint Health and Safety Committee(s), and developing and maintaining H/S protocols and guidelines.
  • Administering company health, welfare, pension and reward plans, including providing support to employees with related queries/investigations
  • Responsible for administration of the HCM and processing required documents to ensure accurate record keeping and payroll data
  • Responsible for developing and facilitating training programs in addition to supporting as a training coach and consultant
  • Supporting the Human Resources department in all activities, projects and initiatives

Your Qualifications

  • A college diploma or university degree in Human Resources, CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset
  • 3 to 5 years relevant work experience, with retail and/or unionized environment experience considered an asset
  • Experience in high volume recruiting and/or talent acquisition would be considered an asset
  • Advanced computer skills including experience using Microsoft and Google products (Word, Excel, Gmail, Outlook) as well as HR software (Ceridian Dayforce an asset)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment along with the aptitude to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Creativity, effective interpersonal and relationship building skills, with an ability to demonstrate good judgment and diplomacy, as well as maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% between location
