The Role:

We are seeking an HR Generalist who will be responsible for supporting our Toronto teams by providing guidance, support and coordination in the consistent and effective application of HR policies, procedures and practices and in all matters related to the full employee life cycle.  

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the recruitment and onboarding process for new employees.
  • Develop and implement strategic recruitment programs to promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Assist in developing and implementing human resources plans, policies, procedures, and goals. Recommend improvements as appropriate.
  • Execute key HR initiatives, providing available and responsive internal employee support, and drive HR functional excellence and process improvement.
  • Coach managers in recruiting and staffing and employee engagement and development.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures. Update policies, procedures, and employee handbooks as required.
  • Identify and resolve employee relations issues. Provide guidance to managers and mediate workplace conflict resolution.
  • Assist CCO with compliance related filings.
  • Coordinate payroll with Finance.
  • Plan Administrator for Group Health Benefits Plan
  • Maintain Human Resource Information System records and provide various monthly reports and dashboards for management.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all employee records in compliance with provincial requirements
  • Manage employee performance reviews.
  • Coordinate training and development programs
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyse data. Make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Ad hoc projects relating to the HR function, as requested by Head of HR.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Human Resources certification preferred (CHRP or CPHR)
  • 5+ years of experience as an HR Generalist
  • Systems literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Strong initiative and judgement skills
  • Good knowledge of provincial employment laws and regulations (ESA)
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and diplomacy
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
