Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources & Organizational Development, the Manager, Recruitment will lead and manage the recruitment team. The Manager, Recruitment will be responsible for full life-cycle recruiting, including nursing recruitment, across all program units and foster strong partnerships with key stakeholders across the organization. In consultation with the Communications Department, the Manager, Recruitment will develop and execute a recruitment strategy that enables the Hospital to meet all hiring needs and achieve strategic objectives. In addition, the manager will be responsible for allocating recruitment resources in a way that reflects SHN’s priorities and strategy.

The successful candidate will lead the transformation and implementation of SHN’s Recruitment Program. You will establish, collect, track, analyze and reports on key recruitment metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to redesign and continually evolve recruitment processes. You will also develop strategies to build an active pipeline of candidates. Moreover, you will collaborate with hiring managers and directors to provide customized, inclusive strategies to improve recruitment and retention in all programs.

Additionally, you will also be responsible for supporting and coaching hiring managers and directors in recruitment policies and best practices, ensuring alignment with SHN’s values, vision, and strategic directions as well as a high level of service to leaders and staff. This position will work closely with Communications to develop an employer brand that places SHN as the top employer for health care workers.

Lastly, the Manager, Recruitment will be responsible for utilizing and leveraging available technology to improve processes.

Responsibilities:
• Co-design, plan and implement a revised recruitment program in collaboration with stakeholders
• Set and implement clear, measurable goals and objectives for the Recruitment Team including client service standards
• Initiate the coordination of data, information and statistical analysis
• Identify and lead practice and process improvement in the Recruitment process
• Explore market best practices in the recruitment and placement of employees
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labour legislation and implement required changes to keep hospital recruitment processes compliant
• Design training for recruiters, managers and directors throughout SHN
• Build quality relationships with internal customers and external recruitment agencies
• Set social media communication strategies for different job profiles and functions in SHN
• Recommend and initiate the implementation of Human Resources policy and procedure amendments and program development initiatives
• Research and provide recommendations to senior leadership on emerging technologies, trends and required strategies
• Develop an innovative employer branding strategy
• Organize and participate in job fairs and career events
• Gauge client needs and service satisfaction and respond to contentious and sensitive staff recruitment queries
• Continue the integration of patient and family centered care (PFCC) principles into the recruitment process, including the involvement of patient/family advisors in the process
• Work with the communications team to enhance the organization’s recruitment visibility
• Represent SHN at appropriate industry forums/meetings
• Manage relationships and expectations of staff, managers, directors and senior executives, and coach and mentor staff

Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or related health care experience
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience conducting full life-cycle recruiting, including deep data analysis, ideally in a hospital environment
• 3-5 years' experience in a Recruitment Manager role preferably in a health care environment
• Experience with Lean/Six Sigma
• Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
• Experience or exposure to developing a recruitment strategy
• Understanding of collective agreements and experience working in a unionized environment
• Deep understanding of recruitment best practices and understanding of all functional areas of HR
• Knowledge of employment law
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to respectfully and tactfully interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds
• Proven leadership ability to inspire, mentor and develop a team of HR recruiters
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to concisely document recommendations and other recruiting related information
• Demonstrated ability to take a consultative approach, build strong collaborative relationships, influence key stakeholders, and gain consensus to achieve goals
• Highly self-directed and solution-oriented with a high sense of urgency to deliver results and meet business deadlines
• Broad knowledge and understanding of recruitment practices, issues and programs
• Proven ability to develop a successful marketing plan to recruit hospital employees, especially for areas that traditionally are difficult to recruit for
• Excellent customer service skills including the ability to transfer knowledge to clients and work collaboratively with them
• Excellent conflict resolution and listening skills, creative problem-solving skills, and communication skills, both oral and written
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site hospital environment
• Excellent Microsoft skills: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
• Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with staff, patients, colleagues and volunteers and other members of the community and public
• Demonstrates SHN’s corporate values and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
• Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff, patient and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
• Excellent work performance and attendance record
