Business Advisory Services (BAS) is a client facing work area within Human Resources (HR) with a mandate to provide strategic human resources advice and consulting support on a broad range of organizational development and employee relations issues to a diverse group of business units.  As the Manager, BAS you will work to create and implement long-term human resource programs focused on employee engagement & development, culture and respectful workplace advancement, succession planning, leadership development , and talent attraction & retention. This will be accomplished through a strong understanding of client needs, including business drivers, corporate vision and the work environment.

You will be responsible for establishing an in depth relationship with clients, monitoring ongoing BAS service delivery and supporting the development and performance of HR Leaders, Business Partners, Analysts, and support staff. In addition to coaching/mentoring staff, you will be required to provide guidance on priorities and oversee major corporate initiatives.  Further you will participate in the development, sustainment and improvement of applicable corporate and organizational effectiveness strategies, programs, policies and processes.

As a member of the HR Management Team you will contribute to the development of HR business and sustainability plans, focusing on current leading edge practices, technologies, and understanding global/local HR issues to determine the ongoing refinement of HR's service delivery model while supporting principles, policies and standards that guide corporate decisions surrounding HR issues.  Business planning for the division and creation of annual divisional business strategies, plans, budgets, performance measures and standards are also key responsibilities of the role.

Qualifications

  • A related Degree combined with at least 10 years progressively more senior and diverse work experience, including at least 5 years’ experience leading and supervising a team of professionals and subject matter experts.

  • Experience must include: organizational development approaches, creating and fostering a respectful workplace culture; overseeing day-to-day labour and employee relations in partnership with the centre of expertise; facilitating implementation of corporate initiatives at the front line; and overall integration of human resource multi-disciplinary approaches.

  • Experience consulting with business leaders at all levels of an organization including members of Council (or equivalent) on complex issues and able to influence at senior levels using highly developed political acumen.

  • Strong leadership and investigative skills accompanied by exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities, change management skills, conflict resolution, the ability to build and maintain effective and productive professional relationships, and the ability to deal with ambiguity.

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
