As the Manager, Labour Relations, you will lead a team of dedicated professionals, providing advice on day-to-day, strategic, and complex labour relations matters. As a highly people-focused organization, excellent service delivery depends on sound labour practices and collaborative union-management relations while leveraging innovative and creative approaches. Working within a mandate approved by City Council, and reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), primary duties include:

Oversee the collective bargaining process and negotiation of collective bargaining agreement terms and conditions of employment that meet the immediate and long-term interests of both the employees and the organization.

Provide broad ranging and long-term strategic advice; proactively engaging with stakeholders.

Support corporate direction and provide subject matter expertise to senior leadership and Council.

Oversee the development, sustainment, improvement, and implementation of best practices in labour relations for The City Coach and mentor a team of LR professionals, as well as HR staff working at the frontline on labour and employee relations matters. Ensure resources are leveraged to meet corporate priorities.

Work with the CHRO to develop multi-year labour relations and employee relations strategies for review and approval of the Administration and Council.

Actively participate as a member of the HR Management Team, assisting in the direction and future of HR’s service delivery.

Provide day-to-day tactical support and advice to frontline HR staff in the administration, interpretation, and application of the collective agreements.
