Primary Duties
The Human Resource Advisor is responsible for supporting all key HR areas including, HRMS data management, disability management, training and development, employee relations, recruitment and selection, training, labour relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, policies and procedures. The incumbent advances the organizational culture by modeling organizational values, promoting HR initiatives and programs while demonstrating sound and consistent judgment. The salary range for this position is $72,000 to $96,000; however, determination of salary will be commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. Major responsibilities include:

1. Maintain and reconfigure HRMS data to ensure accuracy and support various organizational initiatives.
2. Complete time and attendance entries to ensure accuracy and follow up as required.
3. Provide guidance and respond to inquiries regarding group benefits, pension and life insurance.
4. Enroll, remove and execute status changes in group benefit and pension plans.
5. Liaise with employee and health care professionals to ensure early and safe return to work.
6. Follow up and monitor employee accommodations to ensure appropriateness of activities.
7. Report lost time incidents to WSIB and complete required reporting.
8. Provide guidance to leaders regarding the interpretation of the collective agreement, policies and procedures, compensation and internal systems.
9. Keep abreast of employment legislation updates impacting the business and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.
10. Manage the recruitment, selection and onboarding of new employees.
11. Coordinate HR related training and ensure compliance targets are achieved.
12. Provide support in the administration of the organizational Learning Management System and develop training as required.
13. Coordinate monthly WSIB payments.  

Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required
• Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or related discipline, or demonstrated ability to be working towards
• Post Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management or equivalent, or demonstrated ability to be working towards
• CHRP or CHRL designation, or demonstrated ability to be working towards
• 3-5 years’ in a generalist role with specific experience in labour relations, performance management and full cycle recruitment and onboarding
• Previous experience working in a unionized environment
• Advanced MS office skills
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced organizational skills
• Intermediate ability to review and analyze employee data
• Ability to work remotely and adhere to the Utilities Kingston Working From Home Guidelines
• Advanced knowledge of the Employment Standards Act
• Advanced knowledge of the requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
• Intermediate understanding of workers’ compensation and disability management
• Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individuals, the organization and operational requirements
