Human Resources Business Partner (12-14 month contract)

Position Scope:

The Human Resources Business Partner will report to the Vice President, Human Resources, North America and will have responsibility for the following key areas; recruitment and selection, onboarding and offboarding, compensation, benefits and pension administration, training, HRIS and metrics reporting.  This position will also have employee relations management responsibility with an assigned client group. 

Responsibilities:

Employee Relations

  • Provides counsel and guidance on people matters, including interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Lead conflict resolution and investigation processes.
  • First point of contact for policy and procedural inquiries, employment verification letters, benefit and pension related requests.
  • Assists with the promotion of initiatives and recommendation of strategies to measure and continuously improve employee engagement.

 

 

Recruitment

 

  • Complete full cycle recruitment process from applicant screening to onboarding
  • Coordinates the new hire orientation process.
  • Develop and update job descriptions on an annual basis and provide pay equity information as required
  • Key point of contact for all contracted agencies and manages all temporary assignments.

Compensation and Benefit Admin

  • Administer the benefits and pension programs.
  • Assists with the administration of the compensation plan.
  • Manage the STD and LTD process
  • Manage multiple Human Resources programs including, the Rewards and Recognition Program, the Service Award Program, and the Employee Referral Program.
  • Manages the time and attendance system including: new employee set up, employee and schedule maintenance, bank allowances, vacation and absence entitlements, reporting requirements and troubleshooting queries.

Health and Safety

  • Manage the WSIB/WCB process.
  • Develop and support key health and wellness initiatives.

HRIS and HR Metric

  • Act as the HRIS administrator.
  • Manage HR metrics including, headcount reports, and associated dashboards, along with the maintenance of third party listings and supporting documentation.
  • Files all relevant information and maintains a highly organized record keeping system.

Training and Development

  • Acts as a learning and development resource. 
  • Supports all Human Resources related training activities and health and safety initiatives as required.
  • Support the development of all HR related communications, policies and procedures.
  • Supports all Human Resources related tracking activities including legislated training requirements, compensation and performance management documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of Federal and Provincial employment laws.
  • Familiarity in working with legislated compliance processes and training requirements.
  • Advanced level computer skills with proficiency in MS Office, especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Bilingual in French and English is considered an asset.

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field required, or an equivalent amount of relevant experience
  • Leadership experience is an asset
  • CHRP/CHRL designation preferred
