The Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex has an opening for the position of Director of Human Resources and Community Engagement. Our agency provides child protection services and collaborates with the community to promote the safety, well-being, cultural identity and lifelong connections for children and youth with their family and community.
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Director committed to supporting our amazing staff, our most important asset. The Director must champion a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace and to excellence in service delivery.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Human Resources and Community Engagement will advise the Executive Leadership Team on all areas of Human Resources, people development and performance. This position requires a strategic thinker with high impact communication skills, strong analytical abilities and superior management skills necessary to promote a culture committed to staff health, safety and well-being as well as organizational success in the evolving field of child welfare.
Key responsibilities include: the provision of administrative services to the agency including staffing (recruiting, screening, training), compensation (salaries and benefits), administration of the Collective Agreement (including daily labour relations and lead resource person in management/union negotiations), maintenance and development of human resource systems, as well as compliance with employment legislation and the Ontario Human Rights Code. The position is responsible for workforce planning analytics and strategic staffing projections, measuring the effectiveness of HR related activities, and ongoing attention to the alignment of organizational design with strong agency service delivery. Leading and supporting a team of HR professionals is central to this role.
Related portfolio responsibility includes senior staff oversight for Community Engagement in the areas of Communications, Volunteers and Fundraising. This will be achieved through supporting a dedicated Supervisor of Community Engagement as well as program staff. Experience in these areas is preferred but not required.
Qualifications: University degree in Business or Human Resources, or equivalent. Preference will be given to a candidate with the CHRP/CHRL designation. Fluency in French is considered an asset but is not required. The successful candidate will possess well-rounded leadership and management skills as well as a demonstrated history of collaboration and teamwork. A minimum of 10 years’ experience and progressive leadership responsibility in a unionized public service or not-for-profit workplace.
