The Director, Human Resources (HR) is responsible for guiding and managing the provision of the company’s HR services, policies and programs and identifies strategies and solutions to foster a diverse and supportive workplace that enables all employees to contribute to the organization at their full potential.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with senior leadership to develop strategic initiatives to achieve company goals
- Champion company culture, team spirit and a collaborative work environment
- Oversee staffing of the company’s facilities; coordinate recruitment and advise management regarding hiring decisions
- Oversee employee orientation, development and training
- Oversee compensation and benefits administration
- Conduct investigations on employee relations issues and advise management on appropriate resolution
- Monitor employee counseling, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans and involuntary terminations
- Oversee and support the performance management process and provide guidance to leaders on their employee reviews and evaluations
- Monitor Provincial and Federal laws, along with industry best practices to develop and maintain company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the various government regulations
- Promote employee morale and engagement through the development, communication and implementation of pro-active employee relations initiatives
- Direct a process of organizational planning that evaluates structure, job design, and resource forecasting throughout the company
- Re-evaluate and modify processes to ensure maximum efficiency
- Create and maintain organizational charts
- Responsible for coordinating HR support for three company sites including Mississauga and Ancaster, Ontario and Valleyfield, Quebec; some travel between the sites will be required
Qualifications
- 5+ years' proven experience in senior Human Resources roles
- Degree in Business or Human Resources Management
- CHRL/E is an asset
- Demonstrated experience and competence in the various HR functional areas: Recruitment, Staffing, Employee Relations, Coaching, and Organizational Development
- Experience developing and leading a high performing team
- Knowledge of provincial employment laws and regulations
- Experience developing and implementing efficient HR procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills, sensitivity/discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to use metrics and analytics
- Well-organized with excellent leadership qualities
- Aptitude in communicating and public speaking
- Bilingual in French (written and oral) is as asset
