Job Details

The Director, Human Resources (HR) will be responsible for leading, developing, and managing all HR functions, services, and programs to support our growing and dynamic organization across multiple business entities within the 177448 Canada group of companies.  Canada’s Reliable Power Partner, 177448 Canada is a multi-province organization and includes the corporate groups of Total Power Limited, G.A.L. Power companies, and L.M. Generating Power – collectively delivering the right power generator solutions and superior customer service across Canada.

Working from our offices in Mississauga, ON, the Director, Human Resources will work closely with the senior leadership team providing direction and best practices in HR that are in alignment with our Company’s strategic goals. You will be responsible for the development, implementation and execution of all HR strategies, programs, and initiatives across the Company, while providing oversight and leadership to the HR team in recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, health and safety, performance management, compensation and benefits, policy development and compliance and all other areas within HR.

What You Will Do – The Role

  • Develop a human resources agenda for our group of companies that supports key business strategies and initiatives by implementing systems, processes and best practices that are scalable across the organization.
  • Work with and provide leadership in developing, adapting, and executing best practices in all HR functions to enable a high-performing workforce that contributes to the organization’s strategic growth.
  • Provide leadership and overall support to merger and acquisition related activities, including organizational design and development, employee onboarding/offboarding, and other related requirements. 
  • Promote company culture, team spirit and a collaborative work environment.
  • Provide leadership and support to drive our Customer First Initiative forward successfully.
  • As a senior leader, you will be responsible for ensuring you set a good example to all leaders by providing your direct reports with consistent one to one support, employee development opportunities, performance evaluations, team building events, safety and training support, recruiting and disciplinary action, etc. as required.

You will coach, manage, support, and direct the activities of the HR team across the organization and across Canada in the following core areas:

  • Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Employee Relations
  • Health and Safety
  • Performance Management
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Policy Development & Compliance
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as may be required from time to time consistent with the position of  Director, Human Resources and the job description and duties set out herein

What You Need

  • Minimum 10 years’ leadership experience in Human Resources, preferably with a mid-size field service-based organization with branches across Canada.
  • Fluent bilingualism (written and spoken) in French is preferred.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources or related field.
  • HR Designation with the HRPA, or similar recognized designation, is considered an asset.
  • Experience as the senior leader in HR with mergers and acquisitions, organizational development and structural alignment required.
  • Valid drivers’ license in good standing and a reliable personal vehicle required.
  • Previous HR leadership experience in supporting multi-provincial organizations required.
  • Extensive knowledge of HR and Health & Safety legislation and policies across the provinces in which we operate is required.
  • Excellent computer skills, including excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with ADP Workforce Now HRIS system is considered an asset.
  • In the case of a power outage or declared State of Emergency by any level of Government in any province or region in which we operate, be available for work.

Working Conditions

  • Travel is required.
  • Fulfillment of the duties for this role will require some work outside of the traditional 8 hour work day; in addition, being available to reasonably support operations and accommodate different time zones is a requirement of the role.
  • Lifting or moving up to 10lbs. may be required.
