The Compensation Analyst is accountable for administering and maintaining a company-wide compensation program. To achieve this, the incumbent is responsible for the following functions:

  • Studying and analyzing wage and/or salaried positions and preparing position descriptions in standardized form.
  • Evaluating positions using established evaluation systems.
  • Participating in selected salary surveys and analyzing/interpreting survey results.
  • Administration and maintenance of wage structures.
  • Developing customized HRIS reports to effectively administer the compensation program.
  • The Compensation Analyst is accountable for administering salary administration guidelines/processes and ensuring their link to the performance management system.
  • This position is responsible for advising and coaching management, inclusive of training or conducting employee information sessions, on issues regarding compensation programs.
  • This incumbent is accountable for ensuring compliance with government regulations (i.e. employment standards act, pay equity, etc.).
  • This incumbent is accountable for compiling and preparing periodic or special reports relevant to the compensation function.
  • This position is responsible for preparing, or assisting in the preparation of, communications covering compensation and benefits topics.
  • This position is responsible for continuously monitoring human resources information needs and customizing the HRIS system to meet the changing requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in Human Resources or Industrial Relations, CPP designation preferable
  • 4 – 6 years experience, majority preferably in a technical services/IT consulting environment
  • Experience with Canadian Pay Equity legislation and programs is beneficial
  • Experience in compensation design including sales compensation programs, services compensation programs is nice to have
  • Experience in Regression Analysis
  • Experience conducting job evaluations and job design
  • Experience using the Hay method, or any major method, of job evaluation
  • Systems knowledge and experience ie. HRIS., Access, Data Management
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
