Located in Toronto, my client is an established, privately owned business specializing in luxury goods and serving clients throughout Southern Ontario.   

They require a high-energy, hands-on professional to join their growing team of approximately 50 employees as Human Resources Manager

This exciting intermediate to senior-level position will work closely with the Leadership Team, General Manager and department managers to implement, administer, and support various human resources initiatives. Their business continues to grow, and therefore a key component of this role will involve leading initiatives to attract, select, orient, train, develop, motivate, engage, and retain team members. The HR Manager will also support our proactive approach to addressing HR concerns before they become prominent issues. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute all aspects of this stand-alone Human Resources function
  • Support a positive People & Culture strategy by monitoring and enhancing current policies, practices, and systems
  • Collaborate with, and share your expertise, support, and guidance to the Leadership Team relating to HR strategy and matters, helping us build for the future
  • Work closely with the Leadership team and department managers to manage the full-cycle recruitment process:
  • Identify needs and develop creative strategies to source and attract candidates
  • Create effective job postings and conduct activities to fill positions
  • Hiring, onboarding, and training
  • Manage, implement, and/or support key HR programs including performance management, training & development, and termination/resignation practices
  • Provide leadership to the Joint Health & Safety committee, ensuring all requirements are met
  • Liaise as needed with external partners such as consultants, lawyers, government officials, and third-party providers as required
  • Maintain benefits administration
  • Maintain company-wide policies and procedures manual
  • Create and update job descriptions for existing and new employees
  • Execute select company events and special projects as requested
  • Employee relations and internal communications
  • Maintain HR files for all employees in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Prepare reports for upper management as requested

Skills & Experience:

  • CHRP and/or CHRL designation
  • 7-10 years of progressive generalist experience, ideally in a multi-discipline Human Resources environment
  • Proven technical human resources knowledge in a variety of functional areas (recruitment, talent development, and management, employee relations, legislative compliance, health & safety, benefits, etc.)
  • High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, able to build and maintain relationships, influence and be a trusted advisor at all levels
  • Demonstrated experience creating and implementing processes, systems, and tools
  • Comfortable working as the sole HR practitioner but can also work as part of a team
  • Experienced in strategy development yet enjoys executing plans and being hands-on
  • Current knowledge of progressive HR practices and key trends
  • Committed to supporting a diverse workforce
  • Excellent computer skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint). Thorough understanding of virtual meeting applications, LinkedIn, Google forms, Survey Monkey, and social media applications.
