The Opportunity – Human Resources Generalist

The Human Capital department is recruiting for a Human Resources Generalist to be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the HR function in support of the overall business. The duties consist of policy and compliance management, employee and labour relations, training, diversity, performance management, recruitment, back up payroll administration and other HR programs. In addition, this role will act as a first point of contact for employees and managers, providing resolutions and guidance in the above areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate HR policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations to employees and internal stakeholders;
  • Handle day to day employee relations issues, including investigations;
  • Provide continuous improvement recommendations for policies and processes;
  • Contribute to the full cycle recruitment process, including placing ads, scheduling and conducting interviews, creating job offers, and facilitating the on-boarding process;
  • Administer and educate employees on group benefit plans;
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations;
  • Review and update job descriptions;
  • Contribute to a work environment that creates high engagement and a positive employee experience;
  • Oversee training and development programs within the organization;
  • Provide research and predictive analytics as requested;
  • Administer annual and mid-year performance reviews;
  • Update HR files including e-files and maintain employee data within the Dayforce HRIS system;
  • Provide general administrative support to assist the Human Capital department, including drafting written communications and documents;
  • Remain up to date on all relevant industry related legislation, best practices, and trends;
  • Assist with the annual performance appraisal and salary review process;
  • Assist with payroll and acts as back-up, as necessary;
  • Be an active member of Starlight’s Social Committee by facilitating the planning and organizing of company social functions;
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a university degree in Human Resources Management or related field, and a minimum of 5 years of progressive HR work experience. With a positive attitude and high emotional quotient, the ideal candidate will display strong leadership, organizational, analytical, time management, interpersonal and communications skills, as well as a strong ability to be a proactive problem solver who is able to make sound business decisions and deal with confidential and sensitive issues. CHRP/CHRL designation or out of province equivalent, as well as strong knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce HRIS system, are considered assets.
