JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, the Learning and Development Manager is responsible for creating, managing, and updating training designed to empower team members at all stages of their career. You will partner with our leaders to assess learning and development needs, delivery methods, and training effectiveness.  You possess the confidence to present in-person training sessions at all levels of the organization.  At its core the role is to ensure learning and development programs are in place that will drive our strategic plan and team members to deliver on our Vision, Mission and Core Values.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing the company’s leadership learning & development program.
  • Oversee learning programs that include web-based seminars, training materials, group sessions, training videos, and other delivery methods.
  • Determine training needs and requirements for the company or a dedicated group by meeting with managers, talking with employees, administering surveys or other training needs analysis methods.
  • Review training materials produced by third parties to determine appropriateness and relevance and makes the necessary changes to adapt to our business requirements.
  • Modify or create course materials and training manuals to meet specific training needs.
  • Present in-person and online training sessions or sources qualified personnel to do so
  • Execute training programs including schedules, organizes information technology and other equipment, and manages course enrolment
  • Coordinate with various instructors and third-party training vendors to develop and deliver training programs.
  • Monitor training programs and materials to ensure that they are effective and up-to-date and updates as necessary.
  • Manage costs for all programs
  • Specializes in the logistics industry and keeps current on the activities and needs of that industry by attending regular meetings, conferences, and seminars
  • Assess the effectiveness of training in terms of ROI.
  • Review, schedule, coordinate, make payments and maintain records for specific testing and certification.
  • Oversight and administration of tuition reimbursement program.
  • Implement job shadowing and mentorship program for all team members.

What you bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Communications or Business Management
  • Minimum Five years’ experience in leading training and development initiatives
  • Practical experience developing learning solutions in multiple modalities and experience using design thinking methodology
  • Proficiency with ADDIE design processes
  • Knowledge and experience to assess and identify the best training formats to be used (e-learning, live virtual led training, face-to-face training, etc.).
  • Ability to leverage instructional design and multi-media skills to conceptualize, design, develop and deliver training modules and training courses
  • Strong skills in written and verbal communication, interpersonal communication, problem solving, critical thinking, planning, time management, attention to detail, and decision making.
  • Experience in logistics supply chain would be an asset
  • Must have the ability to travel
