Training and Development Specialist

 

Facilitate the identification of development and learning needs, plan and execute learning and development initiatives across the organization. Responsible for learning and development design, content creation/curation, LMS implementation, administration and oversight. The incumbent will assist with the development of creative and responsive learning and development programs that fit the Tomlinson culture, are innovative and foster diversity and inclusiveness. The incumbent will provide outreach, proactive development planning support to employees and assist with individual goal setting and implementation.This role supports our field operations, this would be a full-time position in the office.

 

Location: 100 CitiGate Drive (Head Office) 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Ensure individual employee development plans are built in conjunction with the employee and supervisor’s inputs and then followed

* Assist with the development of program curriculum and course content under Tomlinson University with an emphasis on gamification and micro learning

* Develop and provide one-on-one career coaching curriculum including assessments, readiness and defining short- and long-term career goals

* Develop the implementation program plan for SuccessFactors SAP Development and Learning module

* Work with division managers to develop and maintain role specific training plan matrix

* Work with health and safety to develop and maintain role specific training plan matrix

* Coordinate projects ensuring strong reporting metrics, evaluation framework (progress and final reporting) and communication strategy

* Deliver activities required under evaluation framework and prepare progress/final reports

* Ensure high standards of service delivery within an anti-racism and anti-oppression policy framework

* Build out and administer the mentorship programs

* Assist with the develop employee retention initiatives and programs

* Assist with development and implementation of industry initiatives to shift perceptions and increase external candidate pool

* Participate on employee working groups as required

* Assist with talent management and recruiting initiatives as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS

* University degree or college diploma in Human Resources

* 3+ years of experience in training and development or employee counseling services

* Demonstrated SuccessFactors SAP Learning implementation or administration experience

* Excellent program coordination, organizational, and presentation skills

* Strong verbal and written communication skills

* Must be attentive to detail and apply problem solving skills in a fast-paced work setting meeting deadlines

* Preference will be given to candidates with advanced degrees or training in Distance/Online Learning

* Preference will be given to candidates possessing Certified Training and Development Professional designation or Certified Training Practitioner

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is an office-based position but attending field sites to learn more about roles and lines of business will be required. The position will require the incumbent to deliver course materials to small (8) and large (150) groups of employees. Standard work week is 40 hours, with occasional additional hours working outside the standard office day to accommodate field staff expectations.
