Profile:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator

will work collaboratively with the Human Resources Management team to provide Human Resource generalist support in a variety of areas, such as recruitment, onboarding, engagement, employee and labour relations, policy research and development, Job Evaluation and act as a resource for employee questions.  The Coordinator will as required, provide back-up and support for other functions within the HR team, such as Health and Safety, training and development, and volunteer engagement.  

The Coordinator is a key member of the team, and contributes to creating an inspiring experience that reassures new employees they made the right choice to work for March of Dimes Canada and lays the foundation for high employee engagement.  The Coordinator requires excellent customer service, communication, analytical and organizational skills.  The Coordinator is required to work independently, and is required to work directly with a wide range of internal and external contacts in fulfillment of the job.  The Coordinator must be able to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous tasks, and to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the recruitment and selection process by preparing job postings through our internal process and posting jobs externally, assisting with our national office hiring by screening incoming resumes, conducting telephone pre-screen interviews, assisting with face to face interviews, conducting employment reference checks and preparing offer packages.
  • Coordinate and conduct onboarding activities by meeting with new employees and providing guidance to accurately complete sign-on documents in adherence to MODC standards and practices.
  • Advise supervisors and managers regarding employee programs, policies, procedures, documentation and processes relating to employee relations.
  • Provide employee relations support on a variety of issues and work with Senior Manager to resolve these issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide support with Labour and Employee Relations projects, including preparation for negotiations, maintenance and updating Collective Agreements and preparing grievance tracking reports
  • Provide support to ongoing policy development and review.
  • Participate in and support the Job Evaluation Committee.
  • Assist with developing Performance Contracts.
  • Provide support to management in other areas of HR including any special projects.
  • Provide back-up to other functions within the HR team as may be required.
  • Be aware of trends within the HR world.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • CHRP designation (or working towards) an asset.
  • Minimum three (3) years of generalist Human Resources experience providing a full range of services with an emphasis on recruitment and selection, employee relations, and policy and procedure development.
  • Current knowledge of Canadian HR Legislation and employment laws combined with the ability to interpret and communicate human resources policies and procedures, related legislation and regulations.
  • Experience working with HR systems and proficient in a variety of computer applications requiring use of complex word processing functions, spreadsheets and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact and build professional and effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Readily able to adapt to changing requirements and maintaining effectiveness in varying circumstances.
  • Familiarity with disability issues and/or lived experience with disabilities an asset.
