Job Details

The Ontario Principals' Council (OPC) is a non-profit corporation that serves as the voluntary professional association representing the interests of principals and vice-principals in Ontario's publicly funded school system. Currently, OPC represents 5,000 practicing school leaders in elementary and secondary schools as well as 500 associate members from within the education community.  For additional information on the organization, please visit the OPC website at www.principals.ca.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Membership Services & Benefits, the Benefits Coordinator will: 

  • Process benefit enrolments, status changes and terminations; act as the first point of contact for Members
  • Review insurance contracts to determine Member eligibility
  • Advise new Members of long term disability and insurance coverage options
  • Advise retiring Members of LTD and insurance termination options
  • Respond to email inquiries from the OPC Benefits general mailbox
  • Prepare LTD and life claim application packages for submission to Members
  • Resolve member complaints regarding coverage and claims
  • Liaise with corporate partners such as school boards, consultants and insurers
  • Generate statistical reports from the Member management systems
  • Maintain benefits manual of protocols/procedures for benefits administration
  • Provide administrative support to the department
  • Maintain legal, benefits and corporate files (electronic, hard copy, Members’ database).
  • Draft routine correspondence and notifications for mass email distribution
  • Provide back-up support to the Membership Services Administrator

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 2-3 years of employee benefits or human resources related experience
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in human resources or related field – course work in benefits plans or insurance is an asset  
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Solution oriented
  • Strong teamwork focus as well as ability to work independently
  • Detail oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task, schedule and balance competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
  • Experience with Human Resources Management Systems is an asset
