- JOB OVERVIEW
If you are an experienced EH&S/HR Coordinator looking for a great opportunity to grow, Emerson/Appleton Group Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Elmira (Ontario) location, you will be responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental Programs in our plant and office to ensure compliance as well as coordinating with the HR team in all HR functions.
- JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL HEATH & SAFETY/ HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR, YOU WILL:
- Coordinate Health and Safety/Environmental Programs
- Maintain required H&S documentation and conduct regular audits of H&S processes
- Member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee – manage JHSC; attend meetings, assist in any corrective actions, maintain H&S Committee Meeting minutes, agendas and inspections
- Maintain up-to-date H&S Manual, Emergency Response Manual, Crisis Management and Pandemic plans
- Conduct Job Hazard Analysis, document Safe Operating Procedures, familiar with PSR’s
- Coordinate and conduct training for employees along with formal safety orientation of new employees, maintenance of records and data base
- Conduct root cause incident investigations, workplace inspections and risk assessments; assign responsibility and make recommendations to prevent re-occurrence of incidents
Assist HR team in other HR functions
- Performs professional level HR activities to develop, implement, and administer human resources policies, programs and procedures, pension and benefits administration, coaching, corrective action issues, employee development
- Familiar with time and attendance administration, payroll reporting

- REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Post-secondary education with relevant Health Safety Environmental and HR accreditation or in process of
obtaining accreditation - 3-5 years demonstrable evidence of HR expertise with solid understanding of general HR policies and procedures, employ relations and training and development
- Experience in identifying, evaluating and controlling Health and Safety and Environmental hazards in the workplace is required
