Reporting to the General Manager, the HR Advisor will interface with the organizations leadership team to advise, counsel, and provide direction on all HR and Health & Safety related matters, translating corporate HR strategies and expectations into operational initiatives and activities. This incumbent will act as an HR leader for performance management, recruitment and selection, employee and/or labour relations, policy and procedure development, HR systems, and compensation.
As HR Advisor you will:
- Implement and drive HR programs in support of Garaga’s HR strategy.
- Provide coaching and guidance to management team on developing positive employee relations and performance management within the framework of current policies and collective agreements
- Provide expert advice on the interpretation and application of collective agreements, grievance handling and resolution, mediation and arbitration, and bargaining.
- Lead case management for disability and attendance management program
- Research and inform management team of any HR and/or Health and Safety legislative changes that have impact on business operations; ensure policies reflect changes
- Lead recruitment and onboarding activities, assist management in workforce planning
- Lead in assessing and strengthening leadership depth and employee capability; advise on training needs and development
- Act as advisor to the health and safety committee the health & safety programs including procedures, corrective actions, and health & safety events.
- Assist in processing of payroll and maintenance of benefit plans; respond to employee queries regarding payroll and benefit plans
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or College diploma in Human Resources, CHRP or CHRL designation
- 5-7 years’ experience in Human Resources, minimum 2 years’ experience in labour relations
- Collaborative mind-set that values strong performance and accountability, strives for continuous improvement
- Demonstrated consulting, mediation, and facilitation skills
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills; Bilingual in French asset.
- Ability to listen, persuade and achieve consensus
