Summary of Duties

  • Reporting to the OHS Director, this is responsible for all Programs, Medical Directives and Procedures in the Occupational Health Clinics at all Sites. 
  • Oversee multiple programs in place and performed by the Occupational Health Nurses and ensure programs are up to date with current legislation requirements and there is consistency across all sites. 
  • Work directly with IP&C and oversee all surveillance programs including the blood and body fluid exposures
  • Works directly with Research to ensure surveillance programs in place to meet legislative requirements.
  • Directly oversees the Early and Safety Return to Work Program as well as Permanent Accommodation related to medical, modified work programs, budget impact etc.  This program relates to WSIB injuries and illnesses, short term sick time, long term disability and other personal insurance programs.
  • Directly responsible for a multidisciplinary team which includes Reg. N, Surveillance Nurses, RTW Coordinators, OHS Physician, and Administration Assistants.
  • Responsible to oversee disability management claims at the clinic level and provide direction for complex cases.
  • Ensures WSIB legislative requirements are being met at with all the WSIB incident reporting’s.
  • Represents the OHS Department on multiple committees across the organization.
  • Responsible to report all exposures meeting criteria to the MOL and Public Health Department as required.
  • Provides direction and education to all Supervisors & Managers

Qualifications/Skills

  • Undergraduate degree in a regulated health profession;
  • Current registration in good standing with relevant professional College;
  • Experience in a unionized environment required
  • Sound knowledge and experience in disability management and legislative requirements
  • Sound knowledge in IP&C related to exposures
  • Strong knowledge related to Health & Safety legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates excellent management expertise and communication skills (i.e. written, verbal and presentation skills)
