Manager, HR Analytics and Total Rewards

Head Office - Markham, Ontario

Permanent, Full-Time (35 Hours per week)

Salary: $85K to $93K

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of HR, the Manager, HR Analytics and Total Rewards is responsible for planning, designing and implementing a range of Human Resources (HR) analytics, and information systems, to inform the development and implementation of a competitive total rewards program that supports Kinark’s strategic goals.

Responsibilities include providing leadership in the areas of implementation, maintenance and ongoing delivery of HR Information Systems, HR metrics and data analysis to help shape effective Total Reward programs including Compensation and Benefit Administration, Pay Equity, Job Evaluation, Disability Claims & Leave of Absence Management and Policy Interpretation and Administration.  The incumbent is responsible for leading a team of 3 HR professionals including HR Associate and HRIS Specialist positions. 

Leadership

  • Manage and effectively implement HR initiatives, programs or policies aligned to Kinark’s strategic vision.  Act as project lead or subject matter expert; prepare project plans and acquire appropriate resources.
  • Lead and manage a team of (3) HR professionals providing ongoing guidance, direction, coaching, development, and ensuring direct reports are properly trained; develop and sustain a supportive team environment, providing clear expectations, performance measures and feedback.

 

 

HR Analytics

  • Responsible for overall maintenance and evaluation of HRIS data and HR Metrics/Reports; reconcile complex employee questions and/or issues; analyze scheduled and ad hoc reports and make strategic recommendations based on analysis outcome.
  • Consults with HR Director and managers, and internal clients to create meaningful, real-time information and metrics reporting that supports effective decision making on workforce analytics and planning.
  • Through comprehensive data analysis, working in collaboration with other HR managers, recommend, develop, implement policies, procedures, and programs to optimize the management of workplace matters such as sick leave, usage of vacation entitlement, and attendance management etc.

Total Rewards

  • Supporting Kinark’s strategic priorities to become an Employer of Choice in our sectors, measure and evaluate Kinark’s Total Reward programs for comparability, competitiveness, and effectiveness and make recommendations to the Director, Human Resources regarding enhancement and change.
  • Ensure Job Profiles (union and non-union) are kept current, accurate and consistent across the organization and manage the job evaluation process;
  • Provide reconciliation, guidance, advice and/or counsel to Kinark management team regarding any complex pay and/or benefit issues or questions, policy, procedure, legislation and other HR related matters.
  • Manage, administer and maintain job evaluation plans, salary structures for unionized and non-unionized employees.
  • Manage all benefit and pension plans; ensure employer and employee portions remain accurate and up to date in the HR systems; manage the employee benefit arrear process for employees on leaves of absence, authority to suspend benefits if needed.
  • In collaboration with Director, Finance and Director, HR, liaise with broker for contract negotiation on annual basis. 
  • Manage full cycle disability claims (STD and LTD) for all employees; liaise with external insurance provider to ensure employee is supported through disability claim process; advise of other leave of absence options, as applicable.  Maintain disability claims folder with pertinent information for each worker.
  • Keep informed of emerging trends in total rewards
  • Other duties as assigned by the HR Director.

 

 

Qualifications

  • University Degree and/or post graduate certificate in Human Resources Management or related discipline.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation.
  • 7 years’ progressive experience in HR (considerable position relevant experience required).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience leading a large, comprehensive total rewards program in a complex multi-union environment.
  • In depth knowledge and experience in HR data analytics.
  • Proficiency in HR Information Systems including query development and report functionality; experience with PeopleSoft, Kronos and Deltek a strong asset.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituents, including strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in analyzing/manipulating data (Excel) and report writing.
  • Strong working knowledge of HR/employment legislation.
  • Strong working knowledge of policy and collective agreement interpretation and administration.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong priority, organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office.
  • Project Management training or certification.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical.
  • This position is currently working remote. Once normal business operations are resumed, this role will be based out of the head office location in Markham, ON.
  • There will be minimal travelling requirement between head office and multiple program sites.  Successful candidate must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a reliable vehicle and be willing to obtain automobile insurance which includes driving for business purposes with a minimum liability of one million dollars.
