We are currently looking for a  Director, Human Resources to join our team!    The Director, Human Resources will provide HR insights and work with the senior leadership team to develop the people strategy, effectively building organizational capability to achieve business goals.  Reporting to the CEO, the Director, Human Resources will also offer HR insights and support in the areas of talent acquisition, employee and labour relations, compensation and benefits, coaching, training and development, organizational effectiveness and design, communications and HR compliance for North America.  

 

Responsibilities & what you’ll be doing:  

 

Provide strategic advice and insights, working with the leadership team to develop people strategies to effectively build organizational capability required to achieve business goals; 

 

Deliver key HR programs including talent acquisition, onboarding, salary and bonus planning, performance management, talent assessment & succession planning; 

 

Work collaboratively with business leaders to translate business needs into HR actions; 

 

Support the leadership team with employee and labour relations matters and provide informed, strategic and timely advice, support, and counsel including complaint and grievance investigation and resolution, contract negotiations, labour management meeting facilitation, performance management, workforce planning, etc.; 

 

Drive employee engagement in an evolving culture; 

 

Provide thought leadership in the execution of complex organizational initiatives to develop, recruit and engage the right talent for the organization; 

 

Build organizational performance through the application of effective talent & performance management and organization design/development processes; 

 

Identify, assess and recommend strategies to improve HR programs and tools based on comprehensive knowledge of human resources, and research and analysis of best practices; 

 

Establish HR practices, policies, and structures to support business objectives. Ensure that all HR practices and policies are delivered in a fair and compliant fashion and are consistent with statutory and regulatory requirements; 

 

Execute operational aspects of people management (administration, transactions, hiring, relocation, etc.); 

 

Maintain knowledge of current best practices and trends in human resources, including relevant legislation; 

 

Provide coaching and mentoring to members of the leadership team and other key talents;  

 

Provide leadership to the HR team and develop the team to effectively and efficiently complete HR transactions; 

 

Special projects as assigned. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications 

 

University degree in Human Resources or relevant field; 

 

CHRP/CHRL designation; 

 

8-10 years of progressive HR leadership experience within manufacturing; 

 

Significant knowledge and experience managing employee and labour relations issues with the demonstrated ability to foster positive working relationships between management and union groups; 

 

Strong relationship management experience with an ability to influence/coach at all levels; 

 

Strong analytical mindset; ability to take information and summarize to relevant points; 

 

Deep HR generalist experience across a multitude of areas (labour relations, talent acquisition and management, succession planning, organizational design, compensation and benefits, and change management) with the ability to drive change and continuous improvement; 

 

Proven success in managing departmental budgets; 

 

Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to present ideas crisply and concisely at all levels of the organization; 

 

Embodies a customer service mindset, operates as a value-added business partner with a solutions orientation; 

 

Objective, resilient and flexible in order to manage organizational and personnel issues; 

 

Maintains confidentiality and manages sensitive situations with excellent judgment and discretion; 

 

Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects and priorities concurrently; 

 

Experience with payroll leadership an asset.
