University Health Network (UHN) is looking for experienced professionals to fill the key roles of Senior Talent Management Advisor and Senior Performance & Learning Advisor in our Human Resources Department.

The Energy of the City. The Rewards of a Great Career.

The University Health Network, where “above all else the needs of patients come first”, encompasses Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and the Michener Institute of Education at UHN. The breadth of research, the complexity of the cases treated, and the magnitude of its educational enterprise has made UHN a national and international resource for patient care, research and education. With a long tradition of groundbreaking firsts and a purpose of “Transforming lives and communities through excellence in care, discovery and learning”, the University Health Network (UHN), Canada’s largest research teaching hospital, brings together over 16,000 employees, more than 1,200 physicians, 8,000+ students, and many volunteers. UHN is a caring, creative place where amazing people are amazing the world. Find out about our purpose, values and principles here.

Formerly based with the Organizational Development department, these are two (2) re-designed roles, with uplifted mandates, reporting directly to the Senior Director, Talent Management, and the Senior Director, Performance & Learning respectively.

Working closely with various HR and organizational leaders, the incumbents will help shape the development of robust and integrated talent management, performance enhancement, and learning and development practices at UHN.

Key to these mandates will be driving focus and delivering results with associated programs and activities.  These priority areas include, but are not limited to, employee and physician engagement, succession planning, leadership development, career development and workforce planning initiatives within the organization.

These are critical roles in our journey to “re-imagine HR’ at UHN, in alignment to the current and future needs of our diverse workforce, as well as the strategic goals and aspirations of the overall organization.

Key responsibilities:

  • You will work across the enterprise to design and implement key initiatives critical to the HR strategic plan, as well as work with clients to identify business needs and design appropriate programs and solutions.
  • The primary focus of these two roles will involve leading critical programs linked to engagement, employee and leadership development, performance enhancement, talent & succession planning, workforce planning, as well as other related initiatives.
  • You will apply a ‘system thinking’ approach to this work, and use diagnostic models, data gathering & research, to design and deliver both organizational programs and client interventions.
  • You will act as a strategic partner within UHN and help drive our culture by designing & facilitating sustainable programs within a uniquely complex healthcare environment.
  • You will deliver and design at the enterprise level, requiring strong diagnostic, influencing and stakeholder management abilities and a focus on co-creation.
  • You will advise and guide leaders on complex organizational development/effectiveness, talent management, performance, and culture matters.
  • You will develop metrics and monitor the effectiveness of the work, recommending improvements or other interventions as required.

Qualifications:

  • You are a high performer, adept at building productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • You hold a university or college degree/diploma in Organizational Development (OD), Human Resources Management or a related field – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • You have at least five to seven years progressive experience in Organizational Development/Effectiveness (OD/OE) within complex organizations.
  • Previous experience working within healthcare and/or a unionized environment would be an asset.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in talent management, learning, leadership development, and culture change best practices. Relevant certifications in change, project or process management would also be considered an asset.
  • You have strong diagnostic and consulting capability, utilizing systems thinking and action research methodology throughout.
  • You are an excellent facilitator, with strong communication skills.
  • You are action-oriented and can make quick, quality decisions to deliver superior results.
  • You thrive on accountability and managing competing priorities within a fast-paced environment.

If you are interested in applying to either one or both of these roles and making your contribution at UHN, please apply on-line. You will be asked to copy and paste as well as attach your resume and cover letter. You will also be required to complete some initial screening questions.
