INTRO

The Human Resources Director is the key corporate resource and advisor to the strategic alignment of the Human Resources function by developing progressive, business focused strategy that meets the current and future needs of the organization.

DUTIES

Strategically create, deliver, enhance and administer Human Resources programs for CNL in alignment with the business needs,

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and management of legislative changes impacting the human resources portfolio and process, including planning for future/anticipated changes.
  • Identification, definition and application of industry best practices as part of continuous business improvement.

Organizational Development and Change

  • Use a collaborative, consultative approach to Organizational Development using facilitation techniques to build organizational culture and support knowledge management across the organization with long-term vision
  • Support the management team in the strategic planning of their workforce, the optimization of their organizational structure and the management of staff

Non-nuclear Training and Development

  • Oversee the development, the implementation, and the use of course assessments, testing and other processes to ensure the effectiveness of the learning and development activities.
  • Draw from internal and external methods, tools, and resources to oversee the design, development, delivery and evaluation of all organization learning and development activities and resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or diploma from a college or university program in the field of Human Resources or Business Administration or a related field. An HR certification is an asset
  • CHRP Designation would be an asset

Experience

  • 10 to 15+ years of experience in progressively senior level positions
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.

Abilities and Skills

  • Demonstrated team leadership skills where success was achieved through use of influence techniques.
  • Advanced relationship management abilities with ability to develop and maintain relationships with individuals at all position levels.
  • Strong planning and project management skills and ability to apply these skills in effective working partnerships across organization lines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to motivate others.
  • Comfort with speaking to individuals and presenting to large groups
  • Ability to lead and facilitate group meetings
  • Experience in strategic planning
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Ability to make concise recommendations in objective consideration of legal and regulatory as well as personal and organizational factors.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects.

Job/Industry Specific Knowledge

  • Ability to develop a human resources agenda that supports key business strategies and initiatives.
  • Ability to work with leadership to develop, adapt and execute best practices in all HR functions to enable a high-performing workforce that contributes to the organization’s strategic growth.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Canada Labour Code, employment standards and other regulatory legislation
  • Familiarity with highly unionized environments
  • Ability to develop a working level knowledge of CNL's Human Resources policies and procedures, collective agreements and legislation (i.e. Employee Equity, Pay Equity, Official Languages, etc.)
  • Ability to consult, support and liaise effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
