Manager of Human Resources - Maternity Leave Contract (20 Months)

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services/Clerk, the Manager of Human Resources provides a full range of human resource services for all Town departments and may undertake external consulting with the Bracebridge Public Library and/or the Muskoka Small Business Centre as needed. This role is to further develop both existing and new external relationships for critical services in the Human Resources function and is subject to the ongoing direction of Council and the Chief Administrative Officer.

The Manager of Human Resources is responsible for recommending and implementing best practices for recruitment/selection, orientation, employee development and training, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee counseling and assistance, succession planning, employee and labour relations, employee recognition, health and safety, policy updates, and other initiatives supporting staff and management. This role also assists in the development and monitoring of the department’s annual business plan and budgets.

Applicants require a degree or diploma in Human Resources Management or a related program, a CHRP or CHRL designation, a minimum five years’ progressive Human Resource management experience in a unionized work environment, and five years’ experience in a senior staff role. Experience in the public sector is an asset. 

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, administrative, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, communication, report-writing, research, and time management skills; excellent computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office, an HRIS, and the internet; and excellent knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Pay Equity Act and related legislation.    

The successful candidate must possess a Class “G” driver’s license in good standing, have access to a reliable vehicle for use on corporate business, and provide an acceptable current criminal reference check.

This full time position has a salary range of $85,121 to $99,590. The successful candidate must be available for the duration of the 20-month contract between July 2021 and March 2023 (approximately).
