We are looking for a high-performing professional to fill the role of Human Resources Generalist to join our dynamic and solutions-orientated Talent & Engagement Team (to support Community Building Fund (CBF).  Reporting into the Director, Talent & Engagement, with a dotted line to the Senior HR Business Partner, the HR Generalist will support the entire employee lifecycle of CBF employees.  As the first point of contact for interaction with candidates, the HR Generalist will require excellent communication and assessment skills and is highly responsive to drive the success of our recruitment strategy and onboarding of successful candidates.  The HR Generalist will also act as a resource supporting the timely implementation of other HR related project programs and policies designed to attract, retain and develop our staff.

OTF continues to operate under hiring restrictions; however, for front-line business critical positions to OTF operations, roles may be approved for hire where necessary.  This role is a one-year contract.

What can I expect to do in this role?

Recruitment

  • Ability to establish relationships externally and internally with individuals across all functions of our organization
  • Prepare and post positions externally and internally as appropriate
  • Screening and Identifying potential candidate
  • Coordinate the onboarding and orientation program, changes, and training for employee benefits programs
  • Perform candidate reference and background checks
  • Conduct telephone interviews and in-person interviews with candidates
  • Full cycle administration that follows team and company processes and policies
  • Work with hiring managers and supervisors to co-ordinate and participate in the interview process to evaluate candidates
  • Advise job applicants on employment requirements and on terms and conditions of employment
  • Be responsible for the on-boarding process including preparing employment offers, creating digital new hire packages and coordinating all new hire activities to facilitate positive employee experiences
  • Actively participate in the facilitation, training and organization of the new hire orientation as needed
  • Facilitate a positive candidate experience through timely communication and expectation setting
  • Maintain strong recruitment metrics reporting and tracking as required

Compliance

  • Provide HR and all OTF Benefits policies and procedure guidance to employees and management as required
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety and Ontario’s employment Laws (ESA), and Human Rights compliance requirements

HR/payroll Administration

  • Respond to human resources-related inquiries
  • Assist with processing Payroll documentation and updating our HRIS (Workforce Now)
  • Actively participate in Talent & Engagement and Corporate Services team activities
  • Provide support to Talent & Engagement Team on ad hoc projects as necessary
  • Create and distribute internal communications regarding status changes, benefits, or company policies
  • Administer new employee on-boarding and orientation
  • Generate monthly reports from our HRIS
  • Maintain employee records 
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be required

  • Experience in the non-profit sector, or Broader Public Sector would be an asset

How do I qualify?

  • 3 – 5 years Human Resources experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field - Human Resources Management Certificate is preferred.
  • HR Certification (CHRP/CHRL certified or be working towards certification)
  • Experience with HRIS systems (ADP preferable)
  • Understanding of and familiarity with Ontario ESA

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the OTF salary range for this position. Actual salaries will be determined based on the candidate’s knowledge, abilities, skills and relevant experience.  The salary range listed is just one component of OTF’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include RRSP contributions, Health Benefits, Health Care Days, Flexible Working Policy (post COVID-19 remote working restrictions).
