Position Purpose

Provide assistance and support for all Human Resources policies, practices and procedures. 

Key Accountabilities

The HR Coordinator is responsible for dealing with various HR functions, primarily consisting of recruitment and onboarding, HR administration, and hourly performance management. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide HR support and advice to management and employees to ensure the fair and equitable application of Human Resources policies and procedures, assist with general inquiries
  • Lead in recruitment and selection for hourly roles (posting jobs on SuccessFactors and various job boards online, setting up job fairs)
  • Conduct pre-screening interviews, schedule interviews, and ensure completion of background checks and employment references, prepare and present job offers
  • Deliver new hire employee orientations as required, and ensure all online onboarding, paperwork and training is completed.   
  • Enter and maintain data in HRIS; including all new hires, transfers, terminations and other data entry to ensure accurate and complete information and reporting is available
  • Manage the probationary review process, supplying all departments with timelines
  • Manage step increase program, ensuring rates are processed on time
  • Monitor benefits program (Manulife) plan changes, and RSP program administration
  • Complete various reports such as hires/departures, staffing report, etc
  • Monitor data integrity between systems.  Address system issues as needed, and escalate to appropriate team for resolution when required
  • Provide direction and support to Supervisors for completion of accurate timecards.
  • Participate in various Human Resources initiatives and projects in support of Company goals
  • Performs other administrative duties as assigned, such as employment letters.
  • Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
    • Keep work area clean and clear of hazards
    • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries to supervisor immediately
    • Use all prescribed personal protective equipment
  • Ensure GMP’s and safe food handling practices are being followed
    • Monitor and enforce GMP compliance by all operators
    • Ensure all work areas are clean and organized and free of spills, water, wood, and debris
    • Complete incident reports for all FM/GMP incidents
  • Primarily in contact with:
    • Human Resources Manager - setting direction -weekly
    • US Payroll Team – daily/as needed
    • Employees & Supervisors - daily/as necessary
    • Government Departments - as needed
    • Prospective Employees – as required
    • Temporary Agency – weekly/as needed
  • Perform all other duties assigned

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Superior analytical skills with the ability to identify problems before they arise
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated successful team problem solving, conflict resolution and planning skills
  • Self starter with demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Good organization and follow-up skills
  • Strong computer knowledge, including prior working knowledge with a HRIS

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

Required

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Human Resources and working towards a CHRP designation
  • 2-5 years experience in HR related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of  ESA, Human Rights Code, OHSA , and other related legislation pertaining to workplace Human Resources
