Purpose of role:

Responsible for the administration, communication, data compilation, research and initial analysis of Payroll & Benefits policies and practices for Canada.   Maintains a collaborative partnership with People team, management, employees, and other business partners to ensure there is a positive impact on business operations.

Role Definitions

 

 

  • Serve as the primary payroll administrator and ensure payroll is completed accurately on a bi-weekly basis and ensure respective audit controls are maintained
  • Coordinate with HRIS and related vendors to ensure proper data management of systems and transfer of payroll data.  Troubleshoot any issues with data file feeds to provide resolution to employees and ensure accurate data is processed
  • Responsible for all year-end payroll requirements, including but not limited to, reconciliation of taxable benefits, preparation of T2200 for Employment Expenses, follow up on returned/missing T4s
  • Ensure comprehensive administration and coordination of Leaves of Absence, including coordination with insurance company, the employee, People partners, and managers.  Coordinate with business partners regarding any work restrictions and return to work and ensure workplace accommodations are tracked and managed in accordance with disability and legislation
  • Liase with Manager, Total Rewards to resolve and close complex leave of absence claims
  • Coordinate with Benefit Providers to organize, execute, and administer benefit programs including, but not limited to health/dental insurance, life insurance, learning reimbursment, fitness reimbursement,EAP,service awards, RRSP
  • Continually focus on improving employee education, updating internal learning centres and regularly coordinate wellbeing activities
  • Maintain strong relationships with benefit providers and payroll vendors
  • Make recommendations regarding the improvement of benefit programs (including wellbeing) and administration procedures.  Effectively implement any approved changes
  • Be an engagement driver for the company by leading through example and practicing the wellbeing principles set out by Global and local markets.
  • Conduct Benefits Orientation for Corporate Office employees.  Also conduct and/or prepare total rewards onboarding for Shop Managers as required to ensure employees in store understand their benefit offerings
  • Responsible for completion of Stats Canada  and Service Canada reporting    

Experience:

  • 5-6 years’ experience in Payroll & Benefits Administration
  • Experience administering leaves of absence in multiple Canadian provinces and working with medical providers for required information.
  • Strong computer (specifically excel), analytical, oral and written (email) communication skills required
  • Proven experience in providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects in a time sensitive & confidential environment
  • Must be detailed oriented and confident in taking initiative to resolve issues
  • HRIS and payroll experience of more than 1,000 employees required. Ideally in retail enviromnet dealing with high turnover and fluctuations in seasonal work flow
  • Experience using ADP’s WFN product an asset
