Dillon’s Human Resources department is undergoing an exciting transformation and our team is growing. We are looking for a Manager, Human Resources to join our team. The successful candidate can be based from any Dillon office across Canada. You will have the opportunity to lead and contribute to a fast-paced, dynamic, and agile HR team and lead or support various HR functions and special projects. The nature of the role is dynamic and the scope of responsibilities may change from time to time to support evolving business needs.  This role will report to the Senior Manager, Human Resources.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

HR projects (50%)

  1. Project management: apply HR subject matter expertise and project management capabilities to lead end to end project management on a variety of assigned projects, policies and processes across HR functions.  
  2. Project support: provide senior review and subject matter expertise to guide a variety of HR projects assigned to other team members.

Stakeholder management (20%)

  1. Relationship development: partner with a variety of business leaders, internal stakeholders and clients to build trusted relationships and assess and address business needs.

HR management (15%)

  1. Business planning: develop, execute and assess HR business plans aligned with business operational and strategic objectives.
  2. HR reporting: contribute to various HR reports and presentations that include the review and analysis of HR data used to inform business decisions.
  3. HR compliance: support legislative compliance and recommend best practices, reviews and updates to policies and processes to maintain compliance.

People management (12%) 

  1. Team management: manage a dedicated team of human resource professionals, and work with and support a team of human resources managers across all human resources functions including performance management, learning and development, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employment law, employee relations, information technology and governance.

Learning & Development (3%)

  1. A commitment to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
  2. Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring.
  3. Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • Post–secondary degree in a human resources program, or related field.
  • CHRL designation (completed or in progress) is highly preferred.
  • 10 or more years of related HR work experience in a corporate setting with a minimum of seven years in a Human Resources Business Partner role and at least three years as an HR manager.

Experience

  • Experience in program implementation specifically performance management, compensation and training & development.
  • Experience working in professional services consulting preferred; applicants from other industries will be considered.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Extensive HR knowledge across multiple HR functions.
  • Proven experience developing a team of HR professionals.
  • Ability to develop, review, modify a variety of HR presentations and reports.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to drive results and effectively manage a variety of HR projects.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
