A Day in the Life…

The Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant is accountable for providing consultation, strategic advice, expertise, coordination and delivery of end-to-end talent acquisition services to hiring committees for recruitment competitions, working independently, and reporting to the Manager, HR Advising. The incumbent facilitates fair and equitable hiring practices throughout the recruitment process involving several employee groups in both union and non-union staff and faculty recruitments. As an experienced recruiter, the Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant will be responsible for maintaining and delivering our casual administrative pool of talent known as TES, and representing HR and supporting talent acquisition services for senior leadership and faculty leadership positions.

As the Senior Talent Acquisition Consultant, you will:

  • Lead and deliver end-to-end talent acquisition services;
  • Provide guidance and ensure proper interpretation of collective agreements as they relate to recruitment, while collaborating with labour relations and human resources advising partners;
  • Lead the development of new strategic recruitment initiatives, including participation in events, branding and community outreach;
  • Analyze talent data and industry trends to develop and implement strategic recruitment plans to recruit and maintain top talent;
  • Coordinate and liaise with appropriate internal and external stakeholders throughout to secure top talent. This includes working through RFP processes with external vendors;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Provosts Office, faculty department heads, etc.;
  • Participate in and support Senior Leadership recruitment;
  • Provide subject matter expertise related to recruitment best practices, and University policies, procedures, agreements, and guidelines;
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, human rights, accessibility and equity;
  • Provide input into the creation and implementation of on-going on-boarding initiatives including new employee orientation and material provided to new employees;
  • Lead the development of training programs for hiring managers on interviewing processes and techniques;
  • Provide excellent customer service experience to managers seeking TES (Temporary Employee Services) support, including managing and tracking ongoing assignments, assess availability and organize employees in assignments.

What you need to Succeed…

  • A university degree in a related field (e.g. business administration, psychology, communications, social sciences), preferably with a concentration in human resources management;
  • Minimum three years of demonstrated applicable experience in full cycle talent acquisition, with a focus on senior leadership levels;
  • Knowledge and practice of working with union and non-union employee groups;
  • Knowledge and practice of diversity and inclusion in recruitment practices;
  • Customer service skills to effectively deal with managers and job applicants on a daily basis;
  • Expertise using social media for talent acquisition purposes;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in HRIS systems, and cloud-based systems;
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills are required in order to manage high workload volumes and prioritize workflow to fulfill the demands of this position;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, coach, and performance manage others;
  • Excellent interpersonal and consultative skills are required to provide advice to managers, employees and the public on recruitment related issues;
  • Analytical skills are required to analyze job requirements and determine effective outreach sources and job advertising strategies.

Preferred or Asset Skills:

  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation;
  • Understanding of University’s policies and procedures requirements;
  • Demonstrated experience in a public sector or educational environment.

  • $56,949 - $ 77,702

*The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
