Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Services, the Total Rewards and HRIS Specialist is responsible for supporting the design, development, implementation and administration of Mackenzie Health’s compensation and benefit programs as well as optimizing the effectiveness and delivery of our Human Resources Information System (HRIS).   

Your subject matter expertise in compensation, benefits and HRIS will provide proactive leadership in ensuring our programs and services are proactive and best practice, and administration is optimized within our existing HRIS.  You will lead process improvements, reporting and monitoring as well as leverage reward opportunities for implementation in a fast and ever so changing healthcare environment.   As a member of the Human Resources team, this role will lead activities such as benchmarking reviews and recommendations, annual compensation planning, job evaluation, short and long-term disability management and Pay Equity plans. In addition, the individual will provide exceptional service to the HR team and clients ensuring our total rewards programs drive high performance and enhance the employee experience.

You will also take on the shared responsibility with the Director in ensuring that all Human Resources systems are optimized, support a variety of HR reporting, metrics and surveys as needed as well as lead HR System related processes and improvements.

What must you have?

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or related field or diploma and equivalent experience.
  • Canadian Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation.

What else do you bring?

  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience (Public Sector experience preferred).
  • Solid understanding and experience in the human resources field with a specialization in compensation, benefits and HRIS as well as relevant legislation, including Pay Equity Act, Pension Benefits Act and Employment Standards Act.
  • Experience in applying highly developed analytical, research and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify needs, options, and opportunities for change/improvement and solutions to complex compensation/benefit issues.
  • Administration of pay equity and job evaluation programs, practices and processes and working with pension plans.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems and understanding of the relationship between that system and the HRIS (e.g. shared fields, tables, data flow and triggers).
  • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.

Preferably, your profile also includes:

  • CCP, CEBS, CHRP/CHRL or other relevant professional designation/certificate.
  • Human Resources Professional Association membership in good standing.
