Location: Mississauga, Ontario is a new team dedicated to launching and scaling Sobeys new e-commerce grocery home delivery business. This is a rare opportunity to join a start-up within a larger organization. You will help launch and operate a new brand in the Ontario and Quebec markets powered by Ocado Group’s world-leading e-commerce grocery platform. Job Description

  • Drive the creation and maintenance of a culture of high performance & accountability supported by the continuous improvement of management capability within area of responsibility.
  • Lead the development and execution of an integrated workforce plan, succession plan and overall talent development plan to create a talent pipeline that supports the operational requirements of client group
  • Drive the fair & consistent deployment of HR tools, systems, processes, policies and procedures including: recruitment, onboarding, leadership development curriculum, performance management, diversity & inclusion, engagement, wage & salary administration, counselling & discipline.
  • Drive the creation and maintenance of a positive work environment between Operations Leadership, Management and all front line employees
  • Ensure that we have consistently high levels of Management/Employee communications throughout our locations
  • Use data to provide a strong voice within Operations for employee considerations
  • Monitor engagement and employee and labor relations issues and ensure that management activities are properly aligned with the Company's policies and operating culture
  • Provide professional advice to direct reports and Operations Management in relation to collective agreement administration, employment law, labor law, human rights matters, and any other issues which require conflict resolution
  • Create a high performing team of HR professionals: select, onboard, train and develop, performance manage, and compensate them
  • Create a succession plan for HR professionals and ensure individual development plans are being executed to develop future talent
  • Coach, develop and empower team members to effectively execute their daily roles
  • Mitigate risks to the business through effective application of legislation and Sobeys’ policies

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in HR or related field required
  • Previous experience as an HR Generalist for a multi-location employee population
  • Experience working in a Union and Non-Union retail or distribution operations setting
  • Post-Secondary education required
