Overall job purpose:

The Strategic Advisor, Talent Acquisition (Project Leadwill lead the development of a comprehensive, culture-fit talent acquisition process. The project will include a focus on equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), application of leading practices for attracting and selecting talent (including moving to a nation-wide search philosophy), a streamlined process ensuring formalized practices that are transparent with clear roles and responsibilities, a review of employer branding (careers page, candidate value proposition, marketing approaches), and a tool review.

Key responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Director, People Services, the Strategic Advisor, Talent Acquisition (Project Lead) is responsible for understanding the needs and goals of the CMA with respect to its talent acquisition practice and goals, and conducting the necessary work to research, recommend, and implement the appropriate strategies to reach our project goals. Specifically, this includes:

  • Conducting research on leading practices with regards to EDI in recruitment and selection, attraction and selection methods, national search and implications of this, LEAN acquisition processes, employer branding, and applicant tracking systems
  • Reviewing current practice at the CMA with an end-goal of understanding where we are on the maturity spectrum in comparison to external, leading-practice trends
  • Designing and soliciting internal stakeholder engagement to obtain feedback on the current and future states of this practice
  • Engaging with key subject-matter experts within the CMA to understand culture, leadership, employee experience, and other factors that may inform the best recommendations for the CMA
  • Reviewing the CMA EDI strategy and ensuring best-fit strategies are imbedded into the Talent Acquisition process
  • Consolidating inputs and making recommendations on how to evolve our practice and process
  • Conducting process-mapping (including RACI), and completing process documentation to support change management and implementation of new approaches
  • In collaboration with the People and Culture team, develop and implement approved recommendations to our process
  • Articulating Applicant Tracking System (ATS) requirements, review of current ATS, and making recommendations for the future of our tool
  • In collaboration with People and Culture and Marketing and Communications, reviewing and implementing best-employer branding practices
  • Supporting leadership development and other change management activities.

In addition to the competencies listed above, the following skills and traits are required:

  • Demonstrated, strong project management and detail-orientation skills

  • Strongly demonstrates professionalism, integrity, collaboration, accountability, and transparency

Education:

  • Completed post-secondary education in the Human Resources field, with a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation highly preferred

Experience:

  • Significant experience (10+ years) in the Human Resources field, and specifically within the Talent Acquisition and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion spaces
  • Experience acting in a consultant capacity in the Human Resources field
  • Expert knowledge and significant experience conducting best-practice talent acquisition processes (attracting, screening, selecting top talent)
  • Significant experience in developing successful employer brands
  • Significant experience with evolving talent acquisition processes to ensure best-practice approach
  • Significant experience using various ATS’, including experience determining system requirements, selection, and implementation of such a tool
