Reporting to the Senior Total Compensation Specialist, with a dotted line relationship to the Manager, Total Compensation, the Compensation Analyst assists and coordinates job design, documentation, evaluation, and salary administration for assigned employee groups. The incumbent assists in developing and writing job descriptions in collaboration with managers. The incumbent monitors and provides analysis/ recommendations regarding compensation.
The incumbent supports the maintenance of pay equity requirements for Algonquin College by ensuring that the job descriptions for the Non-bargaining positions of the College are maintained and relevant to the work requirements of the payroll authorizations.
The incumbent provides regular on-going guidance to Managers regarding the job evaluation process, salary calculation process, how to write job descriptions and the evaluation of roles. The incumbent conducts training for Managers who are responsible for job content and job changes related to both bargaining and non- bargaining roles.
Requires Qualifications:
- Minimum of a four (4) year degree, preferably in Human Resources or equivalent as determined by the manager;
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in job evaluation and classification, preferably within an educational organization;
- Minimum of five (5) years of labour relations experience, supporting grievance meetings, preparation for grievances and arbitration;
- Previous experience in interpreting legislation, collective agreements and other applicable policies and procedures;
- Experience in an educational workplace would be an asset;
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) is an asset;
- Training in Pay Equity and the compliance of the Act;
- Excellent client service, communication, listening and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent analytical, organizational and records management skills;
- Ability to set priorities and work to deadlines;
- Must possess tact, diplomacy and sensitivity and a respect for confidentiality;
- Ability to anticipate needs and articulate a vision for change;
- Knowledge of College operations outside of Human Resources;
- Technical, analytical and mathematic ability;
- Ability to interpret data.
