The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies (LA&PS) is the largest Faculty at York University with over 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and almost 100 programs delivered through 24 Departments, Schools and Colleges, plus the IBM Markham Learning Site. In this role you will be accountable for the effective leadership and oversight of non-academic human resources management for the Faculty, including recruitment, selection, retention, performance management, training, development, employee well-being, accommodation, and employee relations. As the Director you will provide coaching, guidance, and leadership to the LA&PS Human Resources team in their support of the LA&PS leadership team. You will work collaboratively with their team and leaders from across LA&PS to foster a culture of excellence and inclusion that will attract, retain, develop, and motivate qualified and engaged employees. In this capacity, you will be accountability for the Faculty's HR processes and analytics, strategic workforce planning and development, employee relations, and HR partnering functions which supports a team of nearly 300 non-academic managers and staff. You will work closely with the Executive Director, Strategy & Administration to develop and integrate non-academic Human Resources strategies and processes that directly support the Faculty in achieving its strategic short and long-term goals and works with their team to ensure goals and results are achieved with a client service focus. Your role will also contribute to a positive, supportive, and client-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration and continuous improvement. embraces diversity and fosters inclusion.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

Post-secondary education in human resources management, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. A Certified Human Resources Leader/Professional (CHRL/CHRP) professional designation is required. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred. A Minimum 5 years of proven progressive leadership experience, with a minimum of 7 years working in a human resources generalist capacity, including extensive labour relations experience in a multi-union setting is required. Experience working in a post-secondary, government, health care or other complex public sector setting is preferred.
