Reporting to the Director, Employment Relations and Talent Acquisition, the Manager, Talent Acquisition is responsible for leading and managing the full cycle of recruitment and selection, including strategies and metrics in support of all Departments/Faculties and in alignment with Sheridan’s vision. This role leads and manages the talent acquisition team and is responsible for directing workflow and for optimizing the performance of the team. 

The Manager, Talent Acquisition provides proactive, current, strategic and operational recruiting guidance and tools to support clients and other HR professionals.  The manager is a facilitator and change agent who leads recruiting related process improvement initiatives and projects (e.g. emerging technologies, social media etc.) and measures outcomes.  The incumbent assists in administering aspects of the Collective Agreements as they relate to staffing and workforce planning.


What You’ll be Doing

  • Providing proactive leadership and expertise to broader HR division in the area of talent acquisition best practices and emerging legislation/compliance issues; 
  • A lead role in the implementation of the Talent Acquisition strategy;
  • Developing, maintaining and regularly reporting on talent acquisition metrics; Using metrics to help optimize process performance;
  • Supporting system enhancements (e.g. ATS capabilities/functionalities) and driver of new AI technology;
  • Leading process improvement projects, and engaging appropriate technical experts and stakeholders; 
  • Providing guidance to talent acquisition team on hiring processes to ensure client needs are met;
  • Negotiating and managing contracts with vendors, issuing RFPs and negotiating with outside agencies, firms, and vendors;
  • Managing centralized recruitment costs and accountability for developing and monitoring operating budget(s);
  • Maximizing staff performance through effective and compliant recruiting & selection, training & development, workflow/project planning, mentoring &coaching and performance feedback/management.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications: 

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree or 3-year diploma/degree + post graduate diploma in Human Resources, Business or a related field is required along with five years of relevant experience (equivalency will be considered)
  • Strategic and operational leadership skills
  • Experienced with HR metrics – building, reporting and using to measure and improve service levels
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing comprehensive talent acquisition strategies and operating plans as well as proven experience in recruiting, assessing and selecting exceptional talent
  • Experienced in leveraging new technology and emerging processes - including applicant tracking tools and social media and experience negotiating and managing vendors is required
  • Experience in managing large-scale projects and branding
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and excellent communication skills 
  • Good judgment, diplomacy, discretion and sensitivity to confidentiality, privacy and human rights are essential

Campus Location: Trafalgar (may be assigned activities at any Sheridan campus) once normal campus operations resume. This position is currently working remotely.
