The Employee Relations Partner (ERP) supports a particular business through the development and execution of positive employee relations strategies. By closely partnering with the HR Business Partner and the Employee & Labor Relations COEs, the Employee Relations Partner is the expert in critical employee relations processes and techniques.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leverage insights and best practices to develop and execute positive employee relations strategies for the Oakville Operations client group.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships, enabling effective employee and leadership behaviors and issue resolution.

  • Coach and mentor leaders on employee relations concerns and the performance management process, including supporting managers through the “Performance Success Plan” process/

  • Provide counsel and direction to clients on HR issues, including pro-active identification and resolution of people related issues, including conflict resolution, policy and procedure interpretations, and legal compliance counseling to support all shifts.

  • Support organizational development initiatives, performance management, training and development, employee engagement, etc.

  • Provide input to the HRP on areas of concern related to specific managers and/or employees.

  • Ownership of the employee survey process for Oakville Operations, including driving participation, analyzing survey results and ensure action plans are created and executed.

  • Work with manager and employee input to identify opportunities to improve morale and engagement and take action as appropriate.

  • Interprets and advises on human resources policies and procedures to ensure that employment laws, standards, or regulations to are followed and applied accordingly.

  • In conjunction with the Talent Acquisition Specialist, support talent management

  • Plan, develop and evaluate HR policies and guidelines in support of Company goals and objectives.

  • Conduct investigations and make disciplinary recommendations, when needed

  • Interpret and advise on site policies and applicable Employment Standards Act requirements.

  • Embody, influence and drive the Collins culture throughout the business

  • Develop and facilitate employee relations training and coaching for managers as required (new supervisor training, positive employee relations training, performance management, etc.)

  • Recognize when compensation and benefits issues are driving employee relations issues and surface those trends to the HRP.

  • Promote a positive, welcoming and inclusive environment where employees can thrive.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required

  • Demonstrated strong employee relations experience is required

  • Highly effective communicator with strong listening skills and quick to respond to employee and business needs.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Labor Relations Act and Human Rights legislation is required

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRMS applications is required

  • Demonstrated ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities

  • Strong team and customer service orientation

  • Successful candidate must have the ability to meet off-shift requirements

  • Successful candidate must meet all requirements under the Controlled Goods Directorate (CGD)

Preferred Qualifications

  • CHRP or CHRL certification

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred

  • Previous HR Systems experience (Workday highly preferred)
